Hi Helpful Humans Of Yahoo!,

I've noticed when I work out at the gym and I perspire, by the time I get home, I have a breakout on my back and chest. It's instant. My back will breakout really badly and it's hard to get rid of.
Also I have to get a little personal....... I have pimple like pumps on the scalp of my head. They are spread out but more concentrated on the back of my neck.

Ok and here is the embarrassing sympton.... I have a breakout on my pubic hair area. Only topical. I noticed this satrted happening after I recieved a very aggressive and painful waxing. But somehow I dont think that is what is causing it, unless she somehow damaged my hair folicles from a harsh waxing????

I feel like I've been dealing with breakouts alot lately. I've also been stressing out alot and stopped reciving depo-pravera (bc) shot. Could it be hormones????

Is there a Dermotologist in the house? Thanks everyone.

it could be hormones. i have the same thing and i just try to wash constantly. don't use fragrant products and always take a shower after working out. the bumps on the head, i was told were oil glands that were just big. i had a doctor check them out. stress and other things can also cause breakouts.

To breakout after sweat is not unusual for sweat will produce bacteria which infcts pores and hair follicles why when I work out at the first opportunity use the handy no water antiseptic lotion or you can carry small bottle of witchhazel and use cotton swab to get rid of sweat. But thats if I jog or do outside workput,at the gym shower and then use the witch hazel for protects skin. You can once home take 2tablspoons of the Bragg's Unprocessed Vinegar(can buy health food store) and mix into 1/2cup of water and after soap and water take cotton pad and apply on the affected areas and leave on the skin. The vinegar smell goes away in aoorox 5-10minutes max. In the AM after Dove and water apply Witchhazel(the kind with no alcoholhealth food store)its a plant derived antiseptic for the skin and tones, tightens pores. In the PM after Dove and water do the Vinegar but only Braggs-brown vinegar for has the enzymes,Vit. etc still in it while the white has no benficial to skin ingredients. All the places that you mention are where sweat collects and stays on the skin. Beaore you work out put some of the No water antiseptic lotion on and if your gym has showers USE. Damaged hair follicles are not the cause of this and your hair would be sparse in that area. Its important to keep skin clean esp free from bacteria as much as you can and you'll see a big difference. If this becomes/is a real problem see a dermatologist although for myself who had a similar problem but not so severe got instant relief from the vinegar and the witchhazel-cheaper and no side effects.

Heya. Birth control can have a big effect on this kinda thing. breasts can enlarge, acne can increase or decrease (people with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome actually see a decrease in oily skin and acne when on the pill).

There's a pattern however that seems to be heat and sensitivity of your skin. This may be rosacea which is pretty common and can be treated. If heat/sweating is the onset this is a real possibility.

Pubic acne (are we sure it's acne and not an allergic reaction?) Could be sensitivity to having hair yanked out of your groin. If you simply noticed this rash and did not feel it, there's always the possibility it was always there and you're just now noticing it.

Do hot and spicy foods, rapid changes in temperature, and many lotions/creams/acne meds cause you skin problems?

Alot of it depends on your age and lifestyle. What sort of moisturizers/exfoliators/masks you use in conjunction with your skin type. All three breakouts may be separate things. Don't rule out STD for the groin area even though it's embarassing (unless you have an absolute certain reason to rule it out..you aren't on trial here, I'm just mentioning).

If you clarify the problems or update I'll return and edit my response. Hope this is helpful.

Oh, I'm not a dermatologist, but I do have a background in triage and diagnostics.

edit: And yes, men can help! I'm 6'7'' 260lbs, solid, masculine, but I take good care of my skin! And I'm well-groomed. Learn about exfoliation and Louis Vuitton fellas, women DO appreciate it.

Okay,
1. Shower before and after you go to the gym, before you work out, make sure to clean the areas that get really broken out. Try using a hypo-allergenic soap. You might try an anti acne body wash, like Neutrogena that's really mild before and after working out.

2. The hair/neck thing, it might be your conditioner... I used to get white-heads all over my forehead until I stopped using conditioner on my scalp. Try using it only on the ends of your hair, like 2 inches from your scalp.

3. The "breakout" in your pubic region is possibly a mix of 2 things, irritation (so, use aloe to moisturize and soothe the skin after waxing) and/or in-grown hairs. So, on the latter one, if you notice that you have hairs that seem to make arches you'll want to put a needle/pin through the arch and pull upwards. Don't necessarily tweeze the hair, you just want to make sure it doesn't continue to grow into your skin.

4. It could be from stopping your meds.

It sounds like the pubic zone problem might be irritated hair follicles, not acne.
As far as everything else, I think you're right to think it might be hormone-related. I had terrible acne (face, back, chest) until I went on the pill--it miraculously cleared up. I had tried countless topical products, antibiotic pills, etc. etc. but the problem was simply hormonal. Whenever I go off the pill, I break out immediately.
I'd check with your md though; maybe there are other solutions to the hormonal imbalance.
Good luck!

Pro-Activ works really well my older brother suffered from the same problem but he might have been worse he used that product on his body and his pimples started to diminish, but the thing about that you have to use it on a daily basis.

Ok I know when i go get waxed (eyebrow), i sometime creak out where ever they put the wax, and that is just normally the type of wax they use it might be to oily or it might contain a fungai for using the wax to long, believe that has happened to me.
