Go to bandhphotovideo.com and search for your camera. Jot down that price, and compare it to the other prices. B and H's price is usually the highest or one of the highest prices you'll find, which means in a lot of cases, it is the same as the MSRP or pretty close to it. If anything is WAY out of the range (i.e. $1,000 cheaper than B&H), it's probably a grey market import. In other words, don't deal with the bastards. If you really would like a cheap price, check out eBay. It's really not as bad as most people think, and from my experience so far, it's great. I got my canon GL2 off of eBay. It costs around $2700 MSRP, $2000 in some online stores, but I got mine for $1500. It was used, but you couldn't tell the difference between it and a new one, and I also got some accessories such as a firewire cable, UV filter, and spare battery as well. Hope this helps!

A lot of these sites are "come ons" in which they will "back order" the camcorder if you DON'T buy the "extra goodies" such as the lenses, filters, case, which is where they make the money!

I found this out when I tried to buy my Canon ZR-40. The place with the $300 price wouldn't ship it unless I also bought the $300 goodies package.
