try defragmenting your hard drive, try using CCleaner to remove unused files on your hard disk.

find out what programs are starting up and are running in the background. You can use a program called WinPatrol that monitors what spyware or adware installs on your computer as well as shows you what start up progs you have.

Clear out your temporary internet files, cookies, etc. by opening an Internet Explorer window. At the very top under "Tools"...select "Internet Options". Under "Temporary Internet Files" (in the middle of the window), click "Delete Cookies" then click "OK". Then click "Delete Files" to the right of the "Delete Cookies" button. Check the "Delete All Offline Content" box and click "OK".

Next, go to the Start Menu...Programs...Accessories...System Tools...Disk Cleanup. Choose your drive (Usually it's C: ) then click "OK". Check all of the check boxes, then click "OK" at the bottom. It may take a few minutes.

Next...go to Start...Programs...Accessories...System Tools...Disk Defragmenter. Select your drive (Usually C: ) and click "Defragment". This may take much longer...it reorders your files so that programs and such start quicker. After it's done...just restart and see how much quicker the system runs.

Uninstall unused programs...through your system Control Panel under "Add/Remove Programs".

That's about all you can do. 512MB is decent for basic stuff, but not really that much memory. You could check to see if you have RAM expansion slots and at least get another 512MB if you really want it to be faster and not freeze up on you. It freezes usually when it runs out of video memory, too. Which you can increase under the BIOS Startup Menu...when the computer first starts up it says something like "Press F2 for BIOS Setup". Usually with newer machines over the past few years...they have "shared video memory". Which means the computer shares some of your RAM memory for it's onboard graphics built into the motherboard itself. Adjusting the shared memory to more...increases performance a little and helps prevent freezing as much. But also that takes up RAM used to run programs and such, so it's a trade-off...but at least a better one than nothing at all. :-)

To make your Computer faster you have to :
1.Defragment your hard drive
2.Then clean all the old compressed files using CCleaner or Tweak Xp manager.
3.Then install StartUp optimizer and the clean up unwanted
registries using Windows registry pro.
4.If its still slow you can increase your Ram shared for your paging file... this also increases the speed.
5.But if you have installed a lot of applications then you may need more ram for your computer because a lot of processes
will be running and this will take away lot of ram and the applications slows down...

Good luck!!

Hope you find my answer worthy.

you can add more ram and that should do it for you, i have an ibm and when i bought it, it was 2.20ghz with 256 mb ram and ran fine, but on some fast games it would freeze, i have added ram and now have 640 mb and everything about is fast with never a problem, but still plan on adding another 512. good luck!!!
