Why do people, mostly kids, feel the need to come on here an degredate members of the U.S. Armed Forces. Do not get me wrong here, I'm not asking for their opinion of the war, this isnt about that, weather you support the President's decision to remain in Iraq is entirely irelevant to the fact you should support the Military.
Why do we not respect those who chose to put their life on the line to keep us free? Why do we Tell them what they are doing is wrong, and why the hell do we think its OK to do this stuff? Weather you agree with the fact the U.S. military is in Iraq or not, that doesnt give you a reason to ridicule the people who's job it is to protect you.
Sry, this was mainly a vent question, feel free to post any response you want, its a free country here in the US, many men and women have died to make sure it stays that way, think about them the next time you post anti-American remarks on here.

I understand your frustration, and even some people who have posted on here need to realize, an individual enlists in the military to serve their country, they follow orders. I was in Iraq during the initial invasion, and i know EXACTLY why I was there, because thats what the orders were, When you get orders, its not a case of "Well, i odnt like these ones, what else ya got?" They are called orders for a reson, and you follow them.
Heres another quote for you to think about:
"Ours is not to reson why, ours is but to do and die"
Every day, thousands of U.S. military members around the world risk their lives to let the citizens of the U.S. live a comfortable life. They do thise because they are following orders, weather you believe it or not, you owe them everything, enjoy what you have, for they are the ones who give it to you.

Some Americans feel entitled and give little thought about why they have the freedom to be rude and mindless about why they are free to begin with.
And there are others who are proud and thankful for those who have sacrificed their lives and their sanity for our country.
I am personally thankful.
I never had anything to do with the military until my son joined the Air Force. When I went to visit him I was amazed at the quality, dignity & dedication of the young men and women there. I felt like every American should be on their knees proud & thankful for our military. I was blown away at what the Air Force did for my kid. He was a meterologist. I was so very proud of him.
I also had the oppertunity to date a Lifer in the Air Force. And I learned so much from him. There is so much our military does to keep us safe on a day to day basis. We could be experiencing 911's on a routien basis. Instead we travel and have freedoms Our military prevents things from happening that we can't begin to know about. We need to trust our military. With that trust we can't always know or understand about what is happening. In turn.......we are free. The freest Nation in the world. How many people are immigrating legally or ilegally to North Korea, or Russia etc........
I will say THANK YOU to the military people who read this. Thank you from the top and the bottom and all of my heart.
We live in the greatest country in the world.
Part of our freedom gives some nasty people the right to say negative things that can and often do .
I will stand up and applaud our vets & our guys who are in active service.

I respect members of the military...you guys and gals are protecting not only my rights as an American, but also some of my basic human rights. And whether I agree or disagree with being over in Iraq or not, you are all doing your job and putting your lives on the line when some people such as myself have too many physical limitations and can't. I honestly don't understand why children under the age of 18 and have no voting rights are so disrespectful...probably because they only hear and see what's on TV and what their parents say/do. I'm 21, and have the right to vote and whether I like the war or not I still respect the men and women in the military. My father was in the Air Force, my best friend is a Marine, so I grew up being taught to respect those who put their lives on the line for my freedoms. Thank you for doing so.

Well I personally would like to physically harm misinformed individuals who speak with out thinking. That said I will however fight tooth nd nail for their as well as my right to say what ever the hell I want. I have two deployments under my belt and can honestly say that unless you have walked a mile in my shoes you cant talk crap about service members. Until you grow a pair and join the one of the branches. To quote John Goodman in the Big Labowski "shut the hell up Donnie your out of your element!" This is not directed at anyone but if the shoe fits wear it.

I think that people are so against the war because we do not want anymore of them dying. I know that they protect our freedom but I think many, including myself, do not understand how our freedom is at steak w/ this war. It is a broken country and even before the war, the worst we had to worry about were terrorists. And even that was an unusual event. I am much more worried about N. Korea right now and the fact that there are huge concentration camps there. They have their people so afraid to speak out because if they do either they,or their family will disappear. That and their proven weapons of mass destruction seem to me a much larger threat. I would support that war much more than I would the current war. But then our country only wants to pick on the smaller guys. I also think that our support is needed in Darfur. There is so much suffering there. I love our armed forces, but I feel the soldiers must understand that just because people are against the war they are not against them. People are angry about the funds needed, and the lives taken in the name of oil. I think that wars based on humanitarian effort are more worth while. We got Sadam, now we need to leave the rest up to the people to sort out. If we are to stick anymore $$ into this war it needs to be to help them rebuild.

Since the beginning of time, the warrior has faced this kind of thing. Loved and applauded so long as the war continued and was popular, shoved into a dark corner as an uncivilized embarrassment when peace held sway or the war became unpopular. It goes with the job.

Sad thing is, that its not just kids doing it... there are (supposedly) prior military members that are on here trashing us as well... which is even worse to me. :(
Also, has anyone else noticed all the thumbs down all the responses on posts like this have been getting? I've been seeing them a lot in the military forum.
Thanks for your support... as always, it's nice to know there are still people out there that support us (even when we're seeing so much negativity from the people)...

That is the beauty about this type of forum or for that matter anywhere in this country. Soldiers are willing to die for the flag that will cover their coffin, the same flag that these people use to cover their hate speech. Being naive about what is out there is great and be thankful that those soldiers are willing to keep people like that naive. 9/11 was only a taste of what these terrorists want to do to this country, guess that we lost some of our innocence that day and we are forgetting what happened.

So many Americans today have fallen prey to the desire to lower the bar rather than raise themselves to a higher standard.
American Servicemen / women act according to a higher calling of honor, committment, loyalty. They accept a willingness to stand in the gap and sacrifice for those (who may not be worthy of their sacrifice).
It is cheap and easy to hide behind the anonymity of the internet, and take shots at those who stand for something. Many are too afraid and cowardly to accept the notion that the world is a dangerous place, and some one else is keeping them safe. You have no right to any freedoms that you are not willing to protect by force.
And you deserve no respect when you abuse the freedom of speech that you had no part earning or protecting.
So may folks today have adult bodies with a nine year old's view of the world.
