I mean being attracted to multiple partners isn't a choice, it's just biology. Many animals have multiple partners. We can't help the way we were born. So you might say that polygamy ruins the sacredness of marriage and is abusive. Well, we certainly can't do any worse than all the monogamous relationships where the husbands beat their wives and couples get divorced. Plus, polygamy is accepted in many nonwestern cultures, where there are loving relationships. What kind of bigots would judge other cultures by declaring our western values superior to them? Where in the bible does it say that polygamy is a sin anyway. Didn't Solomon have many wives? In fact, people should be allowed to marry or have sex with a plant if they wanted to. You think anyone would be dumb enough to choose to be attracted to a plant or an animal, with all the crap they have to put up with? If you do, then shame on you for being so close-minded and ignorant

Biology is not the answer to everything. If our instincts were all the world ran by,we would be in a very sad state indeed. It would be chaos.Everything under the sun would have to be legalized, like rape (well, the man couldn't help it!) murder (hey,I just got angry! It was my first reaction!) That's why there are laws to govern what is acceptable, and that's why we are civilized people rather than a bunch of animals doing whatever we want.
Whether someone beats his wife has nothing to do with the concept of marriage. You can turn that around and say that polygamy is bad because it's usually paedophiles marrying children.
It is not bigotry to make a moral judgement about something. Is it bigoted to criticise cultures that sacrifice their children? Or that practice female circumcision? Sometimes judgement is necessary.
Marriage is a monogomous entity between a man and a woman.Solomon was sinning against God when he had his many wives.
So,thanks for calling me close minded and ignorant.I'll wear it as a badge of honour,as I would rather that than give my approval to a world were there are no moral absolutes.

Mormon polygamists are why it is against Federal Law. Men were marrying many wives but it wasn't all so great, many of these men, married a woman had six or so kids with her then took another wife and left the wife and children they had to go have six or so kids with the new wife and so on and so forth. There ended up being a entire town in Southern Utah that was nothing but women and children, not a single man anywhere in sight. Some of these women and children died one winter and the ones that survived were near death.
It was probably a pretty good setup for men until the Federal Government stepped in and made it illegal.
However you imagine life in polygamy seriously will not be that way in reality. I don't try to force my perversions upon you, shame on you for being so openly perverse and arrogant. Try reading about Abraham. Being attracted to multiple partners is a perversion not biology., Most animals breed exclusive to their own species. Polygamy is abusive. I have seen how dumb the human can be. Another persons sex life is their own business unless someone tries to directly involve me in it then it becomes my own business. If you really want to know what polygamy is like move to Southern Utah.

1. Because the majority of voters don't want it.
2. No, attraction is not wrong, banging everything that moves is.
3. Yes, we can. Think about the children of a polygamous group getting divorced, please.
4. We are not other cultures.
5. In many places the Bible lists polygamy as a sin and what Solomon did was NEVER condoned by God, in fact polygamy was ultimately what lead to Solomon's downfall.
6. No, that is truly a ridiculous statement.

May I suggest that I think it's time you started thinking with the head that is on your shoulders, not the other one.

I don't have a problem with polygamy, as long as everyone involved consents to it. If a woman has five husbands, she might get one of them to take out the garbage and fix the shutters. You kind of slipped into the Twilight Zone with your rant about plant and animal marriages. Perhaps you were trying to say that people should be allowed to form whatever relationship they desire. That is a dangerous mindset, because plants and animals (and children) cannot give consent to such unions and therefore would be victims. I do believe in promoting as much personal freedom as possible. There is a point, however, when following our desires without restraint encroaches upon the freedom and happiness of others.

Polygamy is certainly attractive to think of for men. But if permitted the results would be unimaginable. Today the male and female distribution is nearly 50-50. If polygamy is legalized what will remaining men do. Stay back as bachelors!
Well you think it is a biological urge. Biological urge can be for sex not for sex with many. Desire to have sex with many is not biological but selfish.
Just consider if women are permitted to have more husbands how it would be. They to would have biological urge. Would you like to recommend. Then you would be sharing one woman with many. You may have to kill your biological urge for many nights giving chance to other husbands.
The social life would be harmonious only when you control your senses as per the requirements of society.
You may ask how the hell this is there in some places in some years. In fact it is legal in Islam. There is a history for this. Muslims were at war from the beginning. Many were getting killed in wars and many women were to live as widows. To avoid such a situation I suppose Islam allowed Polygamy. Otherwise it is unwarranted.

Its simple theology. Many men died in wars and this had caused the imbalance in the ratio of woman and man. Ratio had it 4:1. So if man was to marry only one, what will happen to other 3 women and also by legalising polygamy, this will result in decreasing no. of prostitutions, mistresses and extra marital affairs.

I have no problem with polygamy, but the whole animal or plant thing is just idiocy. A marriage is a legal contract. All involved must give consent. A plant or an animal cannot give legal consent to marriage. Grow up.

Imagine the finacial benefits of loving a plant! If I married a cactus, could I file a double expemption on my tax return? Quick... there's still time to get some $8,000 refund on this year's return!

Maybe, as long as it went both ways.....i.e. one wife, 10 husbands.
Or you could just play the field and juggle as many partners as you could handle...without going through the farce of commitment to begin with!

Ha Ha, yea you would like that wouldn't you Joe? A different wife each night.People have feelings and I don't think it is really fair to all your other wives. One is good enough.
