I'm a 20 year old female, 116 pounds, and 5'4". I'm trying to slim down my thighs and tone them, as well as tone my butt and stomach. Starting Monday, this is what I have been doing and intend to continue doing:

1) 45 minutes of pilates 6 days a week
2) 30 minutes of cardio 3-4 times a week
3) 1200 calorie diet (NO junk food!)

How long do you think it will take for me to start seeing results? I'm willing to be patient, and I plan on making this my lifestyle, not just a quick fix. So...how long!? ;)

I don't care how much I weigh; I just want to be firm and love my body! :D

1 to 2 weeks but gradual. Honey I know what you mean, my but is like jelly bags sagging to the floor. You have a good routine.

Please be careful hitting it too hard too fast. You risk injury and burnout this way. That you're exercising so much really is quite excessive and your diet is very very low in calories for the amount of activity you're mentioning.

I suggest slowing down substantially, work out 4-5 days a week at the most, allowing a couple days off to recover. If you're just starting an exercise routine, that's a lot of sudden stress you're putting on your body that it needs a chance to grow accustomed to.

It's a very common mistake people make in hitting it too hard and they wonder why they don't see returns or that they can't stick with an exercise program. Exercising shouldn't be a chore or difficult, it should be something you enjoy and look forward to, that's the only way you'll stick with it in the long term. The mindset is, if some exercise is good, more must be better - this is just false and dangerous.

So, take it slow, work up your fitness and conditioning levels, and as you advance you can add to your routines or, better yet, increase the intensity. I also suggest adding some strength training. Contrary to popular belief, it's extremely difficult for women to gain a lot of muscle so don't worry about looking too manly if you lift weights. You'll actually burn more calories through strength training than from cardio alone since your body is metabolizing all day instead of only during the exercise (your muscles take time to heal and that burns calories, even during rest periods).

You'll definitely start seeing results soon. Just stick with it, be patient and be healthy about it. Body image should be just one of many things you're aiming for and definitely not highest on the list.

There is no way to say exactly how long it will take. Anywhere from one to two weeks you may start seeing visible results...but the catch is that you are already very thin, and should not be trying to lose weight in the first place. Also, if you're exercising that much, your muscle will build and may outweigh the fat...so although your scale won't go down, your pants size will. Be careful..because a 1200 cal diet and all that exercise won't do more good than bad...esp. at your already low weight. Good luck.

Most people don't see any real results from an exercise regimen for 6 to 8 weeks. So don't get discouraged, keep at it.

you will experience consequences till now you notice them. After a week, you need to already start up feeling stronger and extra appropriate and extra effective. After 2 to 3 weeks, you will see some small adjustments on your physique, yet human beings will see them quicker for the reason that they do no longer see you as frequently. only save working problematical, it will come.

You are doing way too much. Go see a doctor or a trainer so that you can get the results you want without putting yourself through that ordeal.

Have you consulted with your doctor about the exercise regime you're doing?

Based on what you say in your question, I would think it might take about a month for you to start seeing results but you might want to check with the doctor to ensure you're not overdoing it?

Sounds to me like you don't need to lose weight, so I wouldn't think you needed to slim down anything. Toning though... the pilates should work within 3 weeks.
