I would like to think that you could fall in to heavily liking the person. Liking them enough to talk to them on the phone. If I was really feeling the person I would move the conversation to the phone. You can learn a lot from the tone of their voice. Most cell plans have free nights and weekends .... offer up the phone number and go from there.

There are many different levels of love. The one you're talking about is infatuation because you don't know who the person really is. Anyone can change into different personalities through words. Chatting is exciting to some people because there's a certain charm through mystery. But, I truly believe that it cannot really be love - only a form of attraction.

Absolutely. Well, if both of you are honest. In a chat room, with words instead of voices, a person can admit to a variety of things that they wouldn't normally if they were person to person. Somehow, with words, it's easier. A person can be honest. They don't even have to think about the answer, it just flows from their fingers. In this a person can be open, honest, and vulnerable. A person can love completely and unbiasedly. Yes, I think it is possible.

Who says you cant. You cant control how you fall in love. You can definetly fall in love with a person's personality or just fall in love with them for who they are, but when you are around that person you will realize if its true love because the persons attitude wont change from the phone to seeing them in person.

The phone or email or what?

I met my bf of almost 5 years that way. We worked for the same company, but in different states...talked on email one day - became good friends, exchanged phone numbers....talked all the time and 10 months later we were exchanging I love you's before we right before we met in person for the first time. Now can't say it didn't come with work after I moved to be with him and we lived together for the first time. But time has shown that exactly what happened was true love!

It can happen.

You can fall in love for any reason or no reason. Falling in love over just chatting means you like the person's mind. But it may not nessissarily mean you're both completely compatable....

Yes - it is called falling in love with someone's personality - not to say it will feel like love when you see them face to face. It might all come crumbiling down.

No.
Just chatting (internet style) robs you of the most essential of the senses that are needed to fall in love, like sight and sound.
To hear and see someone at the same time releases endorphins that make you love people.
