Get him a golf towel embroidered with his name or the names of the people in your immediate family. He can hang this towel on his golf bag.

I am a PGA Professional and I would strongly advise you NOT to get anything golf related. Your chances of getting the right kind of golf balls or golf gloves or shirt, etc. are very slim. Besides, we are often provided those items free from the manufacturer or our employer. I would suggest something personal -- a quality picture frame engraved with a personal note. Include a family picture of some type. There are also many other items that can be engraved. Check with a trophy or awards store -- they have more than awards. There are also a number of websites that deal with that sort of thing. Or maybe a gift certificate to dinner, although I kind of like the idea of something tangible. About the only golf-related item I would recommend would be an antique-collectible type of thing, which again I would have personalized with a special message (i.e., a hickory-shaft club, which shouldn't cost more than $25-$30, and have a small metal plate engraved with a message).

whatever you do, remember to do it before the season starts. You know him best maybe a nice meal cooked by you. PGA Professionals put in long hours all through the season basically having to kiss the butts of some snotty people. ( not all but he WILL get his fare share of them) then his day off is spent playing in a tournament somewhere. So either before or right after the season do something real special for him. I dated a pro and sometimes i would surprise him and just go and reset the tee boxes w/ him. or bring him some home cooked food to the club house. You get sick of eating out all the time. Maybe we will run in to him next year at the show in Orlando..........good Luck

here is something i would want. get him a cool divot tool that you can engrave his initials into with some sort of PGA acknowledgment on it as well. maybe a joke about being a rookie on the tour. this is something that every time hes fixing a ball mark in a tourney, he can use it and it might just relax him a bit under the pressure knowing its from you.

I agree with what Jen said. One of our good family friends is Joe Durant (on PGA tour) and we went to watch him play and my brothers and I were trying to think of something to give him for giving us the tickets and taking care of food and everything. So, I asked him and I just said hey what can we get you? It doesn't matter how much it is because there is 4 of us. He told me he just wants support and stuff. So, my brothers and i went back to his house and we cooked him a great dinner and we all gave him a card with a nice card from each one of us.
Don't get him anything that has to do with golf.. because he will be getting enough of it. Just help him with something he has to do and spend some time with him and tell him how much he means to you and you will support him.
Good Luck!! Hope to see him in some big tournaments soon

I'd get him a birthday card, with a picture of you inside it, and a T-shirt that says you love him best. Then Go to the bank and open a joint checking account with him.

I'd suggest a strip-o-gram...... he has worked very hard to get where he is today... so he'd probably appreciate something which is NOT related to Golf.
