How do you say blue in Italian, I've heard they have two different words for blue. Is that true? If so what's the difference?

It can be 3 words for blue but they're not depending on the gender, they differs just for the shade/tone.
We have :
1.- BLU that's the darker blue = Navy blue
2.- AZZURRO that's le medium blue = Azure
3.- CELESTE that's the lighter blue = Sky blue

Of the 3 just "azzurro" becomes "azzurra" if referred to a feminine noun. It follows the rule of Italian grammar of all the declinable adjectives.

Azzurro is light blue or sky blue. Blu is dark blue, navy blue. They are not interchangeable.

You could technically say "azzurro/azzurra" (depending on gender) or "blu". "Azzurro/Azzurra" is used more frequently!
