If you added the user after the card was obtained, then it is not attached to his credit, only yours. You are the only one responsible for the debt. This is how parents can get cards for their children who are under 18. The credit is thier parents, not theirs. Well, unless you were married when you got the card and live in a common law state, then any thing you had on your credit will automatically go to his.

The history of the account will still show on their credit report. The only thing that will change is that they will no longer have access to the account.

nope, it will just be reported to credit agencies that you've cancelled it. i hope the balance is zero because you will screw yourself if its not. never cancel a credit card unless it is fully paid off!
