I've been playing it for my five month old, because I heard that it stimulates their brain, but I'm curious as to what it can positively do for your child?

I've heard several theories on brain growth, stimuli... etc.
I have 2 small children and I've played classical music for them every night before bed since they were born. As any other parent I think they are both very intelligent but I doubt it can all be attributed to music. Classical music definitely helps me get them to sleep. It's part of their bedtime routine, and the most reliable way to get them to sleep or nap. It's like magic!!

Music is mostly based on number theory, the idea behind playing music to your child is that it helps establish the right connections in the brain to figure out number theory (math) later in life.

It also helps calm them down (but any soothing music will do) by distracting them from whatever is causing them to be worked up.
