Are there taxi's waiting at the La convention center and the Union Station or will i have to call a Taxi service?

Not sure about at the convention center, but there is a cab area at Union station. I am sure that the convention center has a cab stand or something similar as they deal with conventions and business travelers.
check out their website, http://www.lacclink.com. I am sure that you will be fine though. The Metro is also a good way to get around downtown, depends on where you are going

There are taxi's More at the train station than the convention Center. However, if you are adventurous the Union Station is also a station for the Red Line Underground train. There is a website for the citytrains. Google words like Red Line Train+ Los Angeles or visitor's information and see if you get answers. Porters at the station can certainly call you a taxi if one is not waiting.

I'd recommend passing on the taxi in LA. I would consider using either the DASH shuttle bus system which costs .25 cents or the subway Red Line to Metro Center and then Blue line to Pico Station between the convention center and union station. These would be by far the most practical options

You'll most likely see taxi's around these places or van's that load up several at a time... Should be easy going!
