The teams didn't go to the tire, nascar mandated left sides be of a harder compound after good year reccomended it. They pushed it on them without testing. Had it been tested they could have came up with the proper tire.
The track is green and needs to break in. Next years race will be a good one. I expect to see a lot of 3 wide racing.

It's for the better... I think it made for some GREAT racing on Sunday. But I will say this.. If it wasn't for all the talented NASCAR drivers out there.. The race woulda been a WRECK-FEST. There were some awesome saves! In time, the track will age and get better! Give it a few years and I think it'll be a superb place to race @! It will make the race there better in general. I typically thought the races @ Vegas were usually very, very boring until the final 50 laps or so. This new banking and pavement is allowing multi-grooves, and side by side racing! Which is what NASCAR wants

At the moment it is worse, but in 2-3 years I think it will be a fun track.
In 1997, when Atlanta was repaved, drivers were terrified to stray from the low line--it was actually very similar. Today, it has aged into one of the best tracks on the circuit............at least according to the drivers. There are multiple lines and the track is fast as hell.
Once Vegas ages, hopefully they'll find that there's a second line, and Goodyear won't have to bring as hard a tire.

It is for the better. It is ALREADY better. There was great racing out there Sunday, despite the tire. And, it is not the track's fault that NASCAR made GoodYear bring a hard tire. The race will only improve over the next few years. Since they visit only once a year, they will not have to race on that hard of a tire again. It will be one of the better tracks on the circuit very soon!

More tire testing needs to be done. The surface may turn out to be good but for the race last weekend it looks like the wrong tire was brought there.I think everyone did some sliding aroud, ever Jeff Gordon said the track and tire combo was not good.
That's all I have to say about that.

about 50-50 all paved surfaces get better with age no doubt, it was min tire inflation rules making teams scrable to adjust handling setup, i work at the brickyard, and sun on the track plays important factors too, obviously the sun rising on a track and going across from east to west makes hot and cold spots on the surface, the temps can be very hot, last year at the usgp i talked to a team engineer who scanned the infield parking lot at 1030 am the grassy parking areas had surface temp of 125, the access roads were at 140 ish,

I feel like once Goodyear and NASCAR get the tire compound right and the track is seasoned by sun and weather, that it will be much better racing than before.
rubbin is racin!

the surface will be great when it ages.......goodyear needed to use their head about the tires.....you cant go from a really soft compound to a super hard compound without drivers and crews being lost on how to make a car work

Its too early to tell rigth now, when nascar went there, after the
tire test went, and qualifiting went it didn't look to good. But
during the race on Saterday and Sunday my opinion changed, yeah there was a lot of cautions, but there was a lot of side by side racin.
