and get shot by the police while your trying to runaway without time to repent? What I quoted was what someone on the forum just said, baptists please give me the verses that support this doctrine because "eternal security" as I was taught growing up contradicts the bible totally.

There is always time to repent.

From Homeword.com: “The Lord said, ‘Because this people draw near with their words, And honor Me with their lip service, but they remove their hearts far from Me…” Isaiah 29:13

We dont know what people are thinking in their last minutes of life and can only pray for their salvation. Our prayers alone will not save them but we can intercede on their behalf. It is a personal request that one has to make to Jesus our Lord and saviour in order to be savced. Just because we accept Jesus as our Lord and saviour does not grant us automatic entry into heaven. There are some things that we must do as believers in our daily walk with Christ. Repent, follow Gods word, seek him, study the word, try to be holy - even if you do have questions on whether or not this or that book of the bible was taken out - granted we will not be perfect in our walk, but because He lives and grants us NEW mercies every day we can come to the father and lay our requests at his feet.

Nowhere in the Bible is said that accepting Jesus as your saviour is a guarantee that you´ll go to heaven.
The problem is that people nowadays do not understand "belief" in the same sense as the first christians did. The greek word for belief "pistos" appears 67 times in the New Testament, and 53 of those it means "faithfulness".
Being an unfaithful believer is a contradiction, so faith is not an intellectual belief only that comes from "accepting Jesus" on an altar call. Faith is a way of life that you take every day . You may fall from grace by your own choice. That´s why Mat. 23:10 says that those "who persevere to the end will be saved"

I do not believe that at all. If a crime was committed there was an intent to do harm. Living life as a "good" person is all that matters. I am not a baptist and would not choose that religion! No one is going to tell me that just because you repent for what you have done means a sure pass to heaven. I do not steal, murder, or commit adultery, yet you are saying that someone who murders 10 people will get into heaven and I will not? Give me a break!

people .Deuteronomy chapter 19 explains what should be done in case of a hateful premeditated homicide. On the testimony of 2 good witnesses the next of kin is to execute the murderer. Now why do you suppose he said that? it is so the victim and the murderer and god can all get together to decide what to do about it. Now the victim can dictate what the punishment should be ,after all he is the victim. On the other hand the victim has to be careful of the sentence he decrees. Because he knows as he judges so shall he be judged . As he forgives so shall he be forgiven. But you never know when a victim will kamikaze them self. You of course realize that the more people you murder the greater the chance of being kamikazeed. So to summarize there is only the chance of going to heaven after commiting muder.

the bible in all of it's glory has been consistently (although carefully) edited throughout history by those in power to do so. The general response a pastor/church will give is that "those translations are in place so people can understand it easier". Supposing this is true, does it provide justification for the thousands of edits done throughout history and the several books removed by the catholic church?

The basic Christian's respons to this is "He's the devil!" simply because the bible programs us to finger anyone who speaks against the word as a "blasphemer". The corellation they fail to see is that there is no difference if I change a word that means something, or if a pope does it, and yet this is not how things are viewed by the masses, that there are "elite" who can do these things (which isn't exactly humble of them to control the perception of the masses is it?).

In a religion that speaks of love of all man kind, and unification based in peace, they sure do kill a lot. Not to mention that the pastors aren't exactly "humble" when they put themselves in speaking volume above others by using a microphone. I'd like a microphone too sir! Needless to say that all religion is similar, if not bias in unifying it's local population under similar ideals simply because it provides for simpler control of large quantities of people. It's also a historical fact that of all the forces of planet earth, religion has killed the most people. I, myself have found wisdom in the bible, and it was very simple for me to understand - we don't know.

Consider this - God is stated in all religions as being infinite. This being true, technically infinity encompasses all aspects of everything (evil included guys...), or it is not TRULY by definition infinite. This being true, God is the devil, you, me, and everything in the universe at all times, all at once. So question the next time someone attempts to create aspects of God to justify their actions - "It is the will of God that we go to war!"... ahem... not my will, and I am also a part of God or God's not infinite jackass.

note - If Jesus is the saviour, then why would he have had to pray to God if could do it himself? God is all encompassing, and that INCLUDES Jesus.

Confessing your sins is meant to lift the burden of guilt from you. Your sins have been forgiven already thru faith that Jesus died on the cross as the perfect sacrifice to atone for all the sins of man.

There is no way we can keep track of every sin in order to confess them. And by your logic it would take just one little sin forgotten about to condemn us to hell, for God can't have any sin in His presence. Your smallest sin condemns you just as a killers condemns him. God wants that all should be saved and have everlasting life. That is why God made it a free gift and not something that we have to work out. It is not justice. It is love.
John 3:16
There is sin that God brings to our attention that He wants us to repent from, not just confess. This is part of the process of growing in our relationship with Him while we are still here. It is that sin that separates us from having that relationship with Him now. The more we obey and remove that sin from our lives the closer we can walk with Him before we see Him face to face.

We as Christians do not judge people by their deeds. You are told that even if your sins are as red as blood and you happen to repent before your God before you die your sins shall be forgiven.Remember the two thieves who were crucified with Jesus Christ. When the other thief started rebuking Jesus that he was doing nothing to save them from the cross and yet he had powers as son of God,the other thief prevailed upon him to leave the son of God alone. He told him the son of God had done nothing and yet he was being crucified.Jesus told the thief who had defended him that today you will be with our father in heaven. The thief confessed before he died and his sins were forgiven.Repent and your sins shall be forgiven no matter how much you have sinned but remember never sin against holy spirit as that shall never be forgiven under any circumstances.

All of mankind is sinful. You and I are no better off and do not merit heaven any more than the murderer in your scenario. We do not have the ability to look to God for salvation or make a choice for Jesus Christ. Rather it is God the Father who must draw us unto himself in spite of our sin, with God the Son atoning for our sins and the Holy Spirit turning our hearts around. That's how it works, it has nothing to do with the cheap, easy-believism of Arminian "choice", as if we had the ability to place God under our thumb.

Heaven is like ten brides who await the groom in the evening. All ten bring lamps. Only five bring extra oil for their lamps. In the evening when the groom comes the brides are told to trim their wicks and prepare their lamps so the five without oil ask the five with oil to share and the five with oil tell the five without oil to go and purchase it for themselves lest there not be enough. When the groom comes he will take those who are ready and those who are not he will reject as never having known him.

So will Heaven open the doors and those who walk out, past those fallen to the floor in grief, looking for something else or following someone else will be shut outside. Those in Heaven will mourn the lost sheep, yet it was the choice of the sheep to be lost.
