I take lexapro 20mg. My doctor said it is ok to take it when I go to bed. The medicine works for 24 hours. It can take up to 4 weeks to get the desired effect. Good luck.

I take Cymbalta. I'm bipolar so I don't sleep much more than two or three hours a night. In your case, if you drive for a living you should find a new kind of job. Psychiatric medications cause all sorts of problems and you put your life and others at risk if you drive. I had my drivers license revoked because of my meds. The doctor filed papers with the DAV and told them I was unfit to drive. At the time I was taking 12 mg of Xanax a day. I was heavily addicted and just got out of detox a few weeks ago.

Good luck and I hope the medication makes you feel better.

Hi I have been on anti depressants for 28years and had to try many until I found one that suited me. Some side effects are common when you first start taking them, there should have been a leaflet with your meds, and you need to allow 3-4 weeks to feel any real benefits. That is not fair that your job asked you to leave, have you given them a doctors certificate? Have you told them that you have just started this medication and did not feel safe driving, I mean you actually did the responsible thing. Approach them in a couple of days when things have settled down and have a good talk to the boss. Hey, you will be in my prayers tonight. Good luck.

I take lexapro but I half the tablet. I remember the first few days I was on it. I felt very tired in the morning after taking it. Maybe you could ask your doctor about taking it before you go to sleep.
Good luck with your job. I will say a prayer for you.

Unfortunately drowsiness is a common side effect in most drugs that are prescribed for depression. On the bright side, these symptoms usually lessen in a couple of weeks once your body becomes conditioned to the drug. Sorry about your job. Your employer must be insensitive. I will be praying for you.

lexapro should be taking before bed. I am sure the indication"warning label" do not drive while on med if it doesn't maybe you need to sue the pharmacy for loosing your job or something.

It's the beginning of the end. Depression is repression of your unacceptable feelings. You hate somebody, job, authority, poverty, self.

Solution: quit, work, serve...but don't turn one form of slavery over for another, like a 'shrink', who'll become a millionaire on you.

You still have time...but not much.

Call your doctor. He can advise you on the meds and maybe even write a note to your employer? It may help?
