Ice and a lot of Patience. Rub ice on the gum to "freeze" it and then pick the hair strands off one or two at a time. I used this method right before I took away gum privileges.

An easy answer!! My kids had the same experience (all but one). Just take a little creamy (chunky is ok but messier) peanut butter and rub it into the gum. Work it in with your fingers and the gum will loosen and fall apart. Then fine comb as much of the peanut butter mix as you can out before washing it. Comb that area again before you dry it to make sure it is all out..if not, start back at the beginning! Good luck.
This has even worked in carpet and clothes but you have to use something that will remove the oil after you treat it. I work it in with at putty knife and then treat the oil stain right when I finish.

I have always used peanut butter-its kinda messy but gets the gum out really well. Just rub the peanut butter into the gummy mess and then keep combing the gum out doesnt take too long and not too painful for the child.

You can use either creamy peanut butter, any kind of cooking oil (corn, canola, olive, etc.), Crisco or baby oil. All these kinds of oils break down the stickiness of the gum and it will break down easily. You will have to wash her hair a lot to get rid of the oily residue. Don't use gum--it is very time-consuming and may pose challenging if your daughter doesn't like staying still for extra long periods of time.

You can try two things my mom has done when I used to put gum in my sister's hair:
1. Freeze it out by putting an ice cube on the gum
2. Peanut butter can cause it to come off al gewy.
Hope this helps!

I had VERY long hair as a little girl. I went to sleep one night with gum in my mouth and the next morning it was in my hair. My mom was mortified!!! She took an ice cube (several actually) and rubbed it on the gum until it was hard. Then she picked it out. It was time consuming, and I whined alot (lol), but she got it out without having to cut my hair. Good luck to you!!!

Peanut butter (or if you're worried about allergies, try olive oil, might work too). Rub it into the gum. Comb it out. Then wash, wash wash - repeat until the gum is gone, but one pb treatment should do it.

Use a generous glop of peanut butter. Rub in good and the gum should come out.

Apply oil liberally on the hair. It can be baby oil or even ordinary cooking oil will do the trick. just leave it on for a few minutes, pluck the gum out, then shampoo.

i've heard those peanut butter methods but i've also heard of just soaking it in plain water, if you think about it when you drink water and chew gum, the gum itself gets all nasty and starts falling apart right? Well the tub would be the best place but just soak the gum in water idk maybe 15 mins oughta be enough and then wash it and it oughta come out.
