I want to know the RIGHT way to put in my salt & pepper shakers. I have one with 1 hole and the other with 3 holes. I see there has been previous questions about this but it seems everyone does it different. I want to the know the proper way to do it. Please send any sites where you find the answer. Thanks!

You see different answers because everyone has different preferences.

I'm not a salt fanatic, so the 1 hole gets the salt.
I love pepper, so the 3 holes get the pepper.

Actually, I use mills for both.

I don't know the right way, I think it's just up to you. I have crystal salt and pepper shakers and they have the same number and size of holes. If yours have different number of holes it's left up to you. If you like a lot of salt put it in the one with more holes, if you like more pepper, put it in the one with more holes. I don't think there is any rule to this, it's all up to the individule.

As I am reading from the answers, I dont really think there is a right or a wrong way.

I personally always thought it was the one with the more is the salt and the less is the pepper.

Pepper doesn't pour as well as salt, so it goes in the shaker with three holes.
