My friend/neibor took a pill about 6-7 days ago called oxycontin that was given to him by his co-worker after smashing his thumb at work. Not a wise decision I told him & he does go to treament from getting a dui 2 years ago & was told to give a Ua (Uranalysis) today. He's concerned he may have failed though its been almost a week. Best answer gets 10 pts.

OxyContin is a controlled-release form of oxycodone with an apparent elimination half-life of 4.5 hours. It takes roughly 4.7 times the elimination half-life for a drug's serum concentration to reach steady state after a change in dose, so 4.5*4.7=21.15 or just under a day.

Since an oxycontin is considered a "narcotic" drug it could take up to 3 months for one pill to get out of his system.

It just depends on the renal clearance of the drug, you might have to ask a DR. for that.
