Natural disaster is as stated. There is no preventing it from occurring.
There are effects from human influences that can be the affected result of floods, landslides, heavy rains; tampering with the environment. Denuding the landscape of the forest growth will cause flooding and landslides, even the deforestation on another continent could cause heavy rains and storms in another part of the world. The entire inhabited planet need to consider what/how they do impacts the rest of the planet. It's prudent to consider the wind flow patterns that encircle the earth also.

Indonesia is the most densely populated place on earth. They ARE an environmental disaster. So is most of Asia for that matter. Plastic is the main culprit. I don't know what it is about plastic, but every Asian country that I have been to the people there all love to use plastic bags. I once got 3 plastic bags for 6 satays that i bought on the street. The guy could have just given them to me, I would have eaten 4 of them before i left the store But instead I had to dispose of 3 plastic bags.

It is indeed horrible. The only thing you can do is give plenty of warning and have safe places, shelters, hospitals, and supplies and be prepared for the worst. Natural disasters cannot be prevented. Only the saving of lives can be expected at best.
I wish Good fortune to the Indonesian people.

It's like the people who live in hurricane prone areas complaining every year that there's another one coming. Sorry, but the planet's gonna do what it wants to regardless of us. (Sometimes I wonder if it's like a dog scratching at fleas or something though.) Natural disasters are a shame, but it's not anything we can do anything to prevent. Preparedness is key.

Prevent natural disasters? You can't prevent natural disasters any more than you can change the climate. Who do you think you are, Al Gore?
