Yes, you can download the version for Windows XP and it should work if you remove the OS check. Not sure how this is done, but it CAN be done. Though, 9 series was the last release for 2000.

No, I'm sorry !!
You need Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 or later !!

Besides, Windows Media Player 11 is crap anyway. I wouldn't download it if I were you. Windows Media Player 10, its much much better.

Don't forget to pick my answer as best !!
Enjoy !!

I will say no;
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/11/default.aspx
BUT, you can always try and if it not work, delete and re-install 10. I would delete whatever you have first, defrag, and then install. The reason I say this; I have installed many programs that called for certain Requirements and they still worked. BUT, they may work a little slower.
Today I installed (Well plugged it in) a USB Jump-drive on Win2000 Pro, the jump drive said WinXP, but it works. It may not be as fast as on XP, but, it working. Plus it is USB 2.0 and the computer has USB 1.1 not sure how those work, maybe the software make it 2.0???? Dang, if I know, but, it works. ;-)

Actually, no it will not work with the XP version. I run Win2k Pro and Server. Attemted top load on both OS's and it will stop and display a message stating incorrect version of Windows.
