Southern Baptists believe in the trinity, that Jesus Christ is the only way to God and to heaven, that the Bible is the infalliable word of God, and that men and women are able to live godly lives by the power of the Holy Spirit. They are also heavily involved in missionary work, because Jesus is the only way to heaven, we had better get the word out. These are pretty much the pillars of the Southern Baptist denomination and of Christianity for that matter. I don't care what denomination someone is as long as they receive Jesus Christ as their personnal Lord and savior, they are Christians. As for dancing, I don't know? I am going to a Southern Baptist church right now and we don't think dancing is a sin or at least I haven't heard anyone talk about it. That is because my church focuses on whats important, spreading the gospel to further the Kingdom of God.

I am a retired Southern Baptist preacher (minister) - Actually I accepted the license as a substitute preacher.
Southern Baptists have no principles; just doctrines that try to control your life. - That is not a slur, some people need the comfort of knowing that others and church doctrine will make their decisions for them.

--generally conservative outlook on life...politically speaking (ie: anti-gay, anti-abortion, etc...)
--well, dancing used to be considered a sin. but, churches nowadays have loosened a lot. in fact, my church recently had a giant square dance (we called it the "Biggest Baptist Dance Ever!"...it's probably true too. i think we were just poking fun at us being baptist)
--the pastor is generally speaking a male. women are welcome to be church leaders, but the pastor is a man.
--we don't observe "communion" on a regular basis. the church chooses when to observe the Lord's Supper on it's own occasions.
--Christian morals: abstaining from sex until marriage, conservative dress, etc.
--baptism is not required but generally just a standard.
--we love our music. old-fashioned hymns or contemporary Christian songs are sung at the services
--generally, no gambling. but same as dancing, it's loosened a tad, but gambling is mostly a no-no.
