where is a safe place to live at but is still easy on the $$$ and clean in nyc?

Upper east side is the cheapest in manhattan...1600 a month or so for a small 1 bedroom., I personally like the park slope section of brooklyn....easy commute, better rents and nicer neighborhood, with less traffic.

Everyplace is pretty safe in NYC.
Apart from the South Bronx and East Brooklyn.
Queens- somewhere like Woodsise, Sunnyside....or if you don't like the El trains.....Maspeth, Middle Village or Flushing

Queens.
Its kinda like the suburb of NYC.
Upper West Side is still pretty cheap and really safe.
It has great schools, resturants, movie theaters, its a pretty diverse neighborhood.
Even going up to like 109th street is pretty safe.

Defiinitley not Newyork. unless its the projects.
Although Park slope is a nice neighborhood.
