Cats generally have pregnancies lasting from 58 to 65 days. They can become pregnant at as early as six months of age and go into heat twice a year, in the spring and the fall. Cats are induced ovulators, which means that they need stimulation by a male in order to release eggs from their ovaries. Until this happens, a cat can remain quite uncomfortable throughout the heat period, which can last up to three weeks. Anyone who has a female cat knows that the sound a cat makes during heat is one of extreme distress. I often find cat owners camped out on my office doorstep waiting for my arrival so that I can spay their cat immediately, as they and their cat were up half the night due to the cat's suffering.

If you are planning to mate your cat, it's a good idea to line up a male well in advance. Most successful litters are from females who are between three and six years old mated with an experienced male. Be aware that the act of mating can be pretty intense because the male will grab the queen (the mother cat) by the neck with his teeth, often resulting in some hair loss and scarring. Your vet can confirm the pregnancy after about four weeks by either palpation (feeling the abdomen with a gentle squeeze), ultrasound or a bit later on by radiograph. During the pregnancy the queen's caloric intake and weight will increase, so be sure to provide additional food. Toward the end of the pregnancy the queen's mammary glands will swell, and she may start nesting in a specific area.

Gestation for cats is sixty 3 days. whilst the mum is able to grant, her teats shed their waxy overlaying and that they get very finished, especially cases even taking off to leak somewhat, tho that doesn't constantly ensue. mom will start to "disappear", searching for a place the place she will have the kittens with out interference. at present, i seem around to be sure there at the instant are not any cabinets, doors, drawers, etc open the place i do no longer want the kittens to be born. (it is messy). I restoration a liquor-keep container using fact the mothers want to be in a container with a cover. I placed rags in it to take up the mess, then substitute it after the kittens are born. My cats in many cases come to me whilst it's time, possible constantly interior the direction of the night. i come across a quiet place and help her via stroking her and retaining her interior the container. especially cases the kittens are born breach, and that i think extra clever if I gently tug on the physique to convey the mouth out interior the open. I stick my finger interior the kitten's mouth to interrupt the seal of the bag it rather is in and turn it so the mum cleans the mouth first. have relaxing!!

Cats are pregnant for about 9 weeks.
You can generally tell when she is about to give birth, especially if she is an inside cat.
My cat had kittens about a year ago and she started having contractions. She was usually a very private cat and liked to be left alone, but about the day before giving birth she always followed me around. Those are usually signs she is about to give birth.
Signs that she is pregnant is actually similar to humans because they eat ALOT and my cat follows me around alot and also gets mad very easy lol.
Just make sure if you find out that she is, to always have water available and more food than usual
Its so awesome to watch them have babies so good luck!
