My view is the same either way. I can't stand alcohol, much less someone who willingly gets behind the wheel to drive that has been drinking. It is a choice that the person makes, not a accident. Anyone who drinks and drives deserves to be punished. If they drink and ride with a drunk, they are just as guilty. Anyone who drinks and drives and kills because of a choice deserves jail.

I wish alcohol was non existence. It does nothing but make one act like a fool, and ruin lives because very few people can drink in moderation.

No. My opinion would be the same as it is now. There should be stricter adherance to the responsible service of alcohol. It should be illegal to be intoxicated in a public place, this applies to pubs and clubs. Drunks should stay at home or on private property and should not leave these places until they are below .05. Having a drink is a fun, sociable thing to do and I don't see that it is an activity that should be banned, just treated with respect, maturity, responsibility and accountability. Anyone caught behind the wheel of a car while intoxicated should have their vehicle immediately impounded and their licence revoked - no exceptions!

No I wouldn't say get it banned, because I like the odd drink but defiantly make changes.
We need to step up the concerns/ laws and or start taking stronger stand on this law.
When I hear, read or watch news, hear someone only was given a suspension it makes my blood boil.

The police have the law to impound the car, NO TAKE THE CAR but most of the time don't.
The car is the weapon, so should we banned cars? No so drinking isn't the weapon you (the drunk) are.
Something needs to happen.
My sister, 38 years old , mother of two killed and left in ditch to die alone- 1998
My daughter in law- family of 5 walking boxing day, hit 10:am
by knowing drunk, no licence, killed one lady, dragging her to her death, serious harm to all 4 ladies.- 1997
1978- My 2 1/2 old nephew- dead (Too horrible to talk about)
And lost 5 friends to drunk drivers.

That is a good question. It would probably not change my views (although I would probably never touch a bottle again). But the alcohol itself is not the problem. The real problem lies in the actions taken by the drunk driver. Ultimately, he is responsible for the death. He chose to abuse it and made an error in judgement by chosing to drink and then drive.

Banning will not help. We tried that before. It is a tragic thing to be sure. The answer is education in grade school and Jr. High. Early intervention to spot potential alcoholics early and help them earlier, and stiffer penalties for people who drink and drive. Other countries have stronger laws than we do.

I do not drink and drive.

Over 40 000 people are getting killed in car accidents on the U.S.A highways. That is very sad. But I think we cannot have cars banned for that. We need to learn to be responsible drivers. : )

Why is this here? People are responsible for their actions, they choose to drink, drive, and kill those people. They should be tried for murder. Alcohol can be imbibed responsibly, it has been part of human history for most of it, I don't really drink and don't care if it is banned. But banning the drug does't make people more responsible.

Affan, we tried that once. In essense we created organized crime and made them rich. I hate alcohol and drinking, if I could stop it, I would, I have seen too many people I love destroyed by it. But outlawing it is not the answer. We must remember what history has taught us in order to know what to do about our future.

no alcohol didnt kill the person, a person killed them. Alcohol is abused by some but not by all. Its the behavior that needs to be changed, and harsher punishments for vehicular homicides while intoxicated
