Try a dry white grape juice. Not the real sweet bubbly kind, but the plain white grape juice in bottles or the stuff in the freezer containers you have to reconstitute.

That will approximate the taste of the white wine.

Try to stay away from any of the "cooking wines." They are mostly salt and will ruin your dish. Generally your best bet is chicken stock. Depending on where you live you can buy alcohol free wines at your grocery store and you could try one of those. Do not use grapejuice as it will be too sweet when it reduces. If alcohol free wines are available, ask the store's wine manager which one best approximates a dry white.

dont use white wine vinegar. Use a white cooking wine from the grocery store. It will be in the same aisle as vinegar and spices. It'll have all the flavor you're looking for.

When using wine for cooking, with heat that is... all the alcohol in the wine evaporates due to the heat of the skillet, pan or oven... what's left? the grape base...

Therefore, grape juice wold be your best substitute...

There are some version of apple of grape juice that are aged in barrels (they bottled like wine, usually called non-alcoholic wine) , but don't have any alcohol, these would be your best choice...

You should be able to buy Rice Wine (not for drinking because it contains lots of salt too). Hopefully this helps for making that wonderful Coco-van chicken dish with onions and mushrooms, and some chicken stock, over fresh rice! Try adding some dumplings too (basically the same as biscuits except for you roll them and place them into your stewing pot so they have a smooth wet coating around the outside)!

You should be able to buy cooking wine in your nearest grocery store. Look down the baking aisle.
Don't believe you have to be of age to purchase it, since the alcohol content has been removed.
It will give you the exact flavoring as a normal white wine.
Enjoy!
