Hahaha. I'm in your same boat. I'm pretty sure you both are attracted to each other. I mean, people are generally attracted to beautiful things...why would we want to look at something ugly, right? Haha. Next time smile at him and see if he smiles back! My guy did it to me and then I smiled back at him...which led to him now silently mouthing "hey" to me or just the both of us smiling at each other every time we see one another...and we've never even been formally introduced!

it means the guy likes u, but is too shy to go up and talk to u cause ur always with ur friends.

I think they are attracted to eachothers looks. Or they notice one looking at them so they look back :P
Most people are shy when they notice another looking at them so they tend to look back and it creates a odd feeling.
