Well, at age 2 I wouldn't suggest great big theme parks. You might try staying at a resort where you can find places close by like a botanical garden and get some great memorable photos - but have the hotel close by. If he or she is still in diapers - you'll want to make this as easy as possible. Find a children's museum nearby with active activities. Do something different for 2 of the days and then stay at the resort the entire day for two days - taking him or her to the pool and such. If you give him or her too much activity - you'll only regret pushing them to do much - make it relaxing for both of you! You just don't want to bring little boy or girl home completely crabby and over tired. That would make the next 3 days coming home a nightmare. When my daughter was 2 - we didn't have 4 days off and she had a baby brother with us - we spent the day at a garden with flowers and walkways - they had a children's garden and we have the best photos - we'll never forget it. At age 2 - they will forget most of it - so don't get all wrapped up in running around like crazy and doing too much - it's a vacation for you as well after all. You need to do something that is also relaxing for you - and God bless you - nurses are some of the best people in the world and most deserving of a few days off!

Two years old is a fun age, but you have to choose carefully to find things that he would like. With that in mind....
Come up to Michigan. Mackinaw City and Mackinac Island, Traverse City, the UP, the Silver Lake dunes. Flint has Crossroads Village and the Huckleberry railroad that he might like. Michigan's Adventure park is owned by Cedar Point, but it's a smaller park. There is a section for kids, although I don't know how appropriate it is for kids THAT young. Explore their website for more information.
I've gone to Hills Point Resort in the eastern Upper Peninsula a couple of times, and had a nice relaxing time. It's a bit of a drive for you, but it might be something to consider.
good luck, and have fun!

If you are near Columbus, a 2 year old would love the Columbus Zoo. That's not a 4 day trip but it's a start.
