Ok you people obviously missed the point here. I have had a cat for a while now. Believe it or not I know what ones are available at the store. I know the prices and the designs. I wanted to MAKE one that's a little bigger. I am not looking to make a patent on it...just want a freakin litter box. If you don't have anything helpful, just don't bother answering.

Have 6 cats at present but used to have many more and wish I would have done this then. Bought about 3' long see-thru plastic container from Wal-Mart that has a white plastic lid. It cost about $10 and is about 14-16" tall. I cut a hole out in the middle of the lid 4" wider than my cat and about 4" longer. To my surprise, they almost all sit on the edge of the lid instead of getting in the box. I only place enough litter in for one day so it can be dumped daily. Am using the litter that comes in a yellow bucket with a blue lid. An outside grass type rug is near the box to catch the litter for the ones who happen to venture into the box but there is so much less litter on the floor than there used to be. I put duck tape around the area that was cut on the lid but you could find some other way to smooth it so the cats don't get injured.

too late dude they sell those things at at Walmart that you put in the bottom of the litter box and you lift it out with the yukky stuff and leaves in the clean litter. check it out.I made my litter box from a plastic storage container with a removable lid. I cut a square hole in the end of the box so the cats could go into the box to do their thing but cut it high above the ground level because the cats were always peeiing on the seams of the sides and at the opening and throwing litter out of their opening. Now they can't! It is much cleaner around the box now.

Well when my cat has a litter of babies I usually store them in a hole outside, not in a box. The strong ones survive the fall, the stronger cannibalize the others until they are large enough to escape, and the strongest sometimes make it past the rottweiler I have chained up nearby. That way I can rest easy knowing I am eating only the finest cat of an entire litter.

I believe that you are getting the advice you need. Anyone can find a dollar worth of change laying on the ground in any given American city in one day. Go to the dollar store. The "report abuse" feature seems to be malfunctioning on this site/page. The low life scumbag "an-d," that thinks he is funny, is not worth what he eats out of the cat box. Did you think that was funny, Jerky? How about this, you little needle penis insect fornicator! How would you like to have someone do to your family what you described you do to those I hope, alleged felines, you odoriferous piece of excrement! I am seriously hoping the powers that be at yahoo are tracking your monkey posterior down, like the the dried piece of DNA your dad left on the sheet on conjugal visit day with your paid to be there mom, on wash day!

You can't. Why on earth don't you just buy one?? They make ones already that have plastic grid inserts to sift clumps out. Plastic is the only thing that would hold the litter in and not absorb the urine. I don't think you'll have any luck with that. And it would probably be cheaper just to buy a premade one.

If you really want to make your own, get a box, and large garbage bag and put cat litter in it, and get a scooper and pick it up that way and when you want to change the liter box you already have it in the bag. good luck. but it would probably be cheaper to buy one at a pet shop or walmart.
