Windows Media comes with a limited amount of codecs. You need to install them. Try "ffdshow" and other similar. Just google.

did you upgrade your computer from another windows operating system (such as WindowsXP) ??
if so, did you check to make sure your computer is compatible with Vista?

chances are your computer may not have the required RAM or Hard drive space left to work many programs at once or even a media program (cause that takes up a lot of memory to run)

either check the Vista box your software came in or go to the microsoft website and check the system requirements at the site below:

MACS Suck ***, don't ever get one, they are hacked so easily, our school system crashes everyday because of these viruses that easily get on Macs, if you have Windows Media Center you can use that to play a lot of your stuff. You should have waited for Vista for a lot of programs versions and software is still in progress for compatability for Vista, XP is the way to go till around May or JUne when stuff actualy is starting to work on it. GL! BTW my geo teacher just got vista and it is so awesome but worth the wait.

Someone told me to download DivX the other day to view a video and it worked for me. Other than that, that is the only provlem I have had with Vista so far.
