id go with the earrings. this way you get something affordable she gets nice jewelery and she doesnt get stuck with the boring old ring. dont get her earrings every year but when you dont know what to get a girl earrings that are different from what she already has is always the way to go. hope she likes it. if you ever need any other advice id be happy to give some advice.
P.S. when giving her the gift take her to a nice resturant that isnt expesesive wish her a happy b-day from me (just kidding lol)!!!!

Go to a breakfast in Bed place and give her a promise ring. I would Say like 1/3 carat or less.
Remember what ever ring you give her now will have to be less then the wedding ring down the road.
If you give her a 1 carrot now then she will want a 2 carrot ring for her wedding.
