Rakel is right on a 4 door... only two ways to do it are her way or the dealer scan tool.. that's it (as Ford doesn't save the keycode info in it's computers)

Depending upon how far you have to pull back, I can't remember if you have to undo a seat belt bolt or not to access it but you defintely have about two clips to pull out to access it.

And hold up for a minute....

Do you have a 4 door explorer (in which case Rakel is right) or a 2 door explorer? (in which case it's styled like a old explorer (95-01 4dr) and should be accessed by removing the jack trim panel on drivers side rear , pulling back on the quarter trim panel and reading the number there as you can't use a scan tool on that one)

51s answer will just reprogram the key remotes.. you can never reset the factory code and to add one, you need the factory code first..duh'o)

Is it an Explorer Sport (2-door), or an Explorer (4-door)? On the Explorer, open the r/rear door, pull back some of the rubber weatherstrip on the body opening, next to the r/rear seat. Very carefully, pry back the lower plastic panel to reveal the vehicle security module. This module has three electrical connectors (coloured grey, green and blue). Look for a label with a number similar to 2L2T-15K602-AA. On that label will also be FIVE numbers, which is your five digit keypad entry code. Hope this helps.

2002 thru 2007 is in the right panel behind the middle row window. It is below the seat belt mechanism. You have to pull the top plastic panel off, then loosen the lower panel to be able to see the face of the computer module. The code is on a sticker on the face of the module.

you shouldn't have to pay them anything. Simply go to a Ford dealer with proof that you own the car and ask them to pull it up from the VIN number. There should be NO charge for that

Rakel has the correct answer. On a side note, it never ceases to amaze me how many people think that dealers should do everything for free...

Come on Jen Why not?!

They come in my shop and they say Ford is rippin' me off so I give them a quote and they do the same dance they did at your dealer and say it's just a little oil leak, or why don't you change oil for the cost of the oil......WHAT! I'm not a charity, I gotta kid in college, I may just raise my rates......Probably not...
