im 18 and recently found out i love to have sparring matches with my friends were we hold back a bit but see what we can do. I found out i have very fast kicks and pretty strong punches and an also very fast and acrobatic and can jump and evade very easily. I even managed to pull a break dance type sweep kick. My friends also say once i get going i get into an intense fast rage of furious punches. I still hold back though.

Im just wondering what type would be best for me based on what i can do. I would really like to capitalize on my speed and kicks and evasion if possible.

any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you want to mix it up from the git-go. All traditional martial art forms frown on that. Any kicking you do prior to actually learning the correct form and technique will lead to serious injury for you or your friend. Kicks are nothing to play around with.

I think you should find a boxing club in your area and join it. They won't have you sparring the first day either, but I think it will be more what you are looking for.

You sound like you really like a "stand-up" fight so you should focus on striking arts. I like Muay Thai because its a good mix of kicking, punching, knees, and elbows. You also can spar and compete if that's what your into. If your not into Kata don't take a style that does it. Also go to as many schools as possible because teachers in the same style will teach very differently and people naturally teach their favorite techniques so make sure you and the instructor are on the same page.

I also would definitely not sign any long term contracts until you know your serious about going to the school on a regular basis. Becoming a good martial artist is a long term time commitment. Make sure the school is close enough to your house that you'll still want to drive there after a couple of months and that you won't get bored with it after a few classes before you sign anything long term.

Find a style you think fits you and go for it. You'll find out what works best for you when you get into it. The best style is the one that works for you, not the one someone else says is superior.

Just go with what you got. You sound like a good street fighter already so just try to concentrate on placement of kicks and punches. It also sounds like you want to show off some so try not to do that as much. You have a natural talent and should learn to control that. I had a friend that never took any martial arts and was better then most martial artists i knew. He used what i called Rage fighting and that is a real fighting form from what i heard.

You did not state your rank and what style you are fighting. As you progress in rank in any style, the opponents will get stronger. In the early stages, all of your opponents will be weak. Your sensei sees to it that you are not out matched. If you are outmtached, you will get your *** kicked and you will lose confidence. You are young and you should be strong, fast and quick. Your sensei is just bringing you along as you get better. Trust me when I say there is always someone out there who is bigger, faster, and more seasoned than you. Win tournaments if you think you are that good.

The major kicking styles are Tae Kwon Do, it's twin brother Tang Soo Do & Northern Shaolin styles. Find a good school in your area & get going.

well if you like sparring than you should take maybe WTF (world taekwondo federation) taekwondo. what's bad about it is that the school might do point sparring, where once you get a point(hit someplace) the fight stops and then resumed. Try finding a tkd school that does continuious sparring. in tkd sparring fask kicks and dodges are invovled a lot. not many punches are used though. if you really want intense fighting i suggest going into muay thai which is thai boxing. unlike american kickboxing, elbows and knees are aloud.

I like taekwondo. But you will need to learn self control, not just holding back but not doing a number of things like kicking in the back, punching in the face etc.

Good luck.

Well if you like working on ground game Then- Jujitsu
Well if you like working on striking Then- Muay Thai
Well if you like working on submissions Then- Hapkido/Submission skills

I'd say combine as many take out the junk and leave whats good, then you would be doing what Sifu Bruce Lee did.
