The reason it is so hard to read and obey the Bible is-- These fleshly bodies we live in are so wrought with sin, all they want is to please themselves. Satan is the ruler of this world for the time being, and our flesh wishes to please him. Our spirits want to read Gods word and obey every letter in it, but our flesh tends to take over and tell us we are tired or hungry or some stupid thing like that.
We need to feed our Spirit so it can become stronger then the flesh. Whichever you feed more, will be the stronger of the two.
Feed your spirit, and I will see you in Heaven.

Back to the bible is currently presenting a series on bible illiteracy (go to website) and most people don't even read the bible but get their religion from the preacher and then don't really listen because they are thinking of what to do after church (hurry up preacher). And some preachers should learn how to effectively teach (put you to sleep). Many today tailor their sermons to attract and keep those who tithe and Will tickle the ears and not get down to brass tacks. RELIGION is mostly a game and those who hear and do the word are not the ones you are talking about.
Walk your talk

Because it asks a lot of things people are reticent about.
Like NEVER to divorce.
Like DON'T EVEN KNOW OR SIT WITH A FORNICATOR, that includes your son, daughter, sister, brother or cousin.
Jesus said you had to put GOD above them all.
So if your Minister gets a divorce for no good reason, you are SUPPOSED to stop assocating with him!
If your FATHER or MOTHER does it, ditto.
Otherwise you are VIOLATING Corthinians, Romans, etc.
YOU did say it was the INFALLABLE WORD OF GOD, correct!
Oh and what about those passages in the Bible that tell you to STONE PEOPLE.
How about the ones that say if your daughter gets raped all you can ask is that he marry or her pay you money. NO JAIL TIME is called for by the Bible.
How about Jesus orders that you sell all you own, buy a sword, go out into the world with NOTHING in your pockets and spread the word.
Been doing that lately.
You do know the Bible says that GOD will punish those who claim to believe and do his work HARSHLY if they sluff off and those who don't profess nothing will get a less harsher punishment.
You been doing your duties to God and Jesus 10 times harder than you are supposed to.
You carry the pack 10 miles instead of 5 miles
You give your cloak as well as your coat when asked for it!
Or do you sluff off.
God is watching. God knows all and sees all.

First off, you are correct...the truth will set you free, but first you must seek the truth. If you have studied the Bible as deeply as you imply you would clearly see that it is very contradicting. You would also see that 18 years of Jesus' life is not in there as well. For someone who's life has been so "well" documented....someone forgot alot of things.
The truth you must seek is this...the IDEALS of the Bible. They are pretty much the same as most religious books out there. Again I say MOST not all. There is alot of controversy over what you ask.
I'm not going to preach as you are but I will ask you this; Are you happy with your life as it is?? If yes, please by all means continue doing just as you are. If not, Why not try to search for answers without seeking the Bible for them because your life is your own, and your own answers need to be found in your own way. If The person you hold so highly had followed a book as opposed to his true being; you'dve never heard of him, no matter who's son he is.
Read the Bible again, and verify it like it's a mystery because it is. Once you have true facts, and can prove them to me, then you can tell me how to live.

I didn't follow what my family or preacher taught me, I did go out there and search for myself, and you are totally right, I did find truth. Now I no longer believe in anything that Christianity has to offer, thanks to my own investigations and searching. Your right, more people should decide for themselves, maybe this world will become a better place.
Also, the bible is filled with contradictions, you will find a list of a few here. http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/jim_meritt/bible-contradictions.html

My friend, it is hard because not everyone believes that the Bible has authority. Does not your own Bible state that "all fall short the grace of God?" Thus, obviously no one obeys.
Furthermore, your questions reveals only your narrow-mindedness and ignorance. I am a citizen of the world, I do not believe that the Bible has absolute spiritual/authority and quite honestly, as a student of history, that book has done more to hurt and hinder humanity than Adolf Hitler.

On my profile there is a link to a blog entry. It's pretty long, but it details searching through the bible. Please don't assume people haven't read it, studied it. Most of the people on here have studied it a great deal.
People have a hard time obeying the book because there are difficult passages. You have to admit, much of Leviticus, re: stoning children, killing people for picking up sticks on the wrong day of the week, would be a little difficult to "apply to your life".
Yeah, I know. You didn't mean "all" of the bible when you said "the bible."

You are correct, but the bible also foretold an apostasy that was present in the first century but the last Apostle John, was the only barrier between that apostasy and the Truth that Jesus came to preach, to teach and to die for. So as the scriptures clearly indicate, after this apostasy, they would seek out those who would be willing to shoulder the prestige of becoming a clergy class and tickle their ears so they would not adhere tot the healthful teachings of the Christ.

Because we love world more than we love God. We all fall short from the glory of God. Even if and when I do wrong I still recognize that the Word of God is the truth. It it hard to obey it. That is why it would not be only hard for us to get saved by deeds, it is impossible. We get saved by the mercy and grace of God.

You obviously haven't read the Bible. You've read select verses. And you've listed to sermons preached about the Bible. And maybe you've read books about the Bible. But you haven't read the Bible, critically, from cover to cover. It's OK, you're not alone. 99% of Christians haven't.
Go ahead, spend the next few weeks reading it then come back here and we'll talk.

As the Bible says, "narrow is the road"...it's hard to not follow the Devil, as he makes it look easier than loving and following God. But in the end, We believers know that the Devil is exposed as a liar and a thief and that all of God's promises are real and true. It's just harder to believe what they can't see...we have faith that gets us through.
