No, they should be fine,.They will be more prone to any genetic defect that mom is carrying , but chances are they will be healthy puppies.

If they're both perfectly healthy, the puppies should live just fine. But inbreeding like that is just asking for a buildup of recessive genes for all kinds of health problems. Even healthy dogs have recessive genes that are bad. The reason the dogs stay healthy is because the genes are recessive and never get a chance to take control. But if enough of the same type of them pile up, you get dogs with crippling genetic diseases. You don't want to be responsible for that.
If I were you, I would spay your chihuahua after she gives birth to prevent future accidents, and be sure that all of the puppies from that litter get spayed and neutered young so that there is no chance that the recessive buildup gets passed on. And steel yourself for possible health problems with those pups. I think chances are good you won't have any, but you never know.

What kind of irresponsibility does it take to let a dog breed accidentally, let alone with her own son? Get both of those dogs fixed!
No, they probably won’t die (although small dogs often have difficult births that do result in the deaths of either themselves or the puppies. She may need a c-section), in fact they should be fine, but they may be more prone to genetic health issues. I would also be up-front with whoever buys the pups about their parentage.

The puppies should be fine.
This is called inbreeding..and professional breeders do this occasionally. They call it "line breeding." But, that is usually farther spaced..more like uncle and nephew..or something. I'm not 100 % positive but it's farther down.
But, the puppies should be fine. As it's been said, they have a higher percentage of genetic defects, but more than likely the puppies will be perfectly fine.

calm down. youre dog is not gonna die and neither will your puppies. it is okay to breed your mom and son. it is also okay to breed your father and daughter. this is called line breeding. it is done when there are certain characteristics in that genetic line that you want in your puppies, such as color/markings or temperment. your puppies will not come out defective or anything. they will be perfectly healthy if the mother gets adequite care. well, i wish you the best of luck with youre new puppies.

Yes it is very possible. My friend breeds guinea pigs and one of her male babies got her pregnent. iassume the same goes with dogs. If she is pregnant, then her puppies may be handycapped in some way. Dont panic, research. There are many ways to make life as most normal as possible for these puppies. They might be just fine. Take your dog in for an ultra-sound to be sure, or gently feel her stomache to pick up motions of puppies best wishes to you -Keoka

They won't die, but the chances of them having a hereditary disease is greater since they share the same genes...

No they will not die, and it is not very rare at all for them to do that! Pro. Breeders breed their offspring with eachother to get champion bloodlines! If your dogs have good bloodlines, that means the pups are going to have better bloodlines! (And besides, they dont even know the difference, and they dont care!) Good Luck!
