Yes.
If it has a white, frosty coating on it, it is still good for you, but it will taste bad. That is called "freezer burn".
The longer stuff stays in the freezer, the more nutrients they lose. I would personally toss anything over 3 years old. But that's me.

So long as the freezer is working properly, the food will be perfectly edible - as it will be in 10 years time.
There are two reason frozen food has a best before date, one legal requirement in most countries - though pointless - and secondly some items like delicate fish etc may loose some of their moisture (freeze dry) and lose their texture a little - BUT they are perfectly safe to eat.
As another poster mentioned, steak from 2000, hell yes!!

If it is from the end of 2006, it will probably be okay.
The chicken will last longer than the steak. If the steak has a greyish color......it will taste and smell bad. You can tell just by the smell that it is bad.
I beleive that 2nd (I think) answerer meant 3 months...not 3 years!

Yes, it may have lost some of the nutrients but it's safe to eat it. I fixed a pork loin today that was from 2005. It was delicious. If there is freezer burn on the steak you can trim it off and the rest of it will taste good. It's just up to you if you want to eat it.

The meat should be safe to eat, as any bacteria present in it was not able to thrive in the freezer. I wouldn't give old meat to an important date, however, because it is likely that over time the freezer has sucked much of the meat's moisture out. If your meat was well packaged, it probably only lost a little moisture, and may still taste wonderful.
Dig in!

Check it for freezer burn... if it was wrapped properly it should be ok...chicken will be white and severly dry looking ..... Perhaps severely icey....The steak will take on very dark characteristics.....and also will have ice crystals..if this is the case, it's probably not very pleasing to the taste buds...But it probably won't kill ya
