Isn't it better to believe in Zeus and be wrong, then not believe and have him zap you with lighting?

Take a shot!

I am sorry to say that, to me, it is not a viable choice of yes or no to God. I vowed to never say this but now with humility I will say this rather pseudo-intellectual expression. To wit: "It depends on how you define God". Sorry for that cheesy idiom. But,

I am a self-read Christian. Do I believe in the God described by religious empires? No way Jose. The original Bible scrolls, before they were mistranslated and corrupted, does not believe (If a history book can believe) in "the" God or in the Jesus as described by the Church Chrisitans on this site.

Harmony is harmony; disharmony is the only sin against (the real) God.

I am very suspicious of any Bible verse that advocates disharmony or ignores the value of harmony.

Nah...if you believe in something, you're willing to take the risk of getting zapped. I don't believe in Zeus so if he zaps me, oh well. We all gotta go sometime.

If that's what you want to believe, go for it. I, myself, follow the teachings of The Great Potato in the Sky.
And Zeus controlled lightning, but I don't think he used it to punish individual people.

Well if your doing it just not to get zapped, just in case your not really believing in him anyway so the point is mute isn't it?

You've convinced me. I'm taking tomorrow off to climb Mt. Olympus and bow to Zeus.

Interesting point. But what about this one: Would you rather lie to yourself through your whole life, or practice what you simply believe? And belief caused by fear really isn't belief at all, is it? This is a question that troubles me, which is why I simply cannot say whether I am religious or not.
But ask yourself this too: Why would our creator give us free will?

No Zeus for me! The Great God Om is my choice. OK, he looks like a tortoise with one eye, but hey, nobody's perfect.

Considering that statistics is purely an inductive form of knowledge, I've no fear in 'taking my chances' with Zeus.

I'm banking on going with my head and having him Zap me.

As we all know, Thor is a bigger bad A$S anyway.
