of different beliefs?
I began this (and btw, I'm a female for those who keep saying that guy) because someone was posting slanderous statements about other users here. It was a counter-active measure, and I covered people of all different faiths. It was a feel-good and get-to-know-you exercise and it was educational for many. Tolerance and acceptance come from learning and educating those who react out of fear and ignorance.
None of the information given out was anything not already on someone's profile. Maybe some people will take the time to click on them.. get to know people a bit and be just a bit more accepting of others.

This was awesome. It's been said before, but sometimes it's forgotten that there are real people, with different ideas and beliefs, on the other end of the questions and answers that are posted here. Instead of being feared, those differences should be accepted and learned from.

Thanks for the reminder! :)

I thought it was Ok, you did it with style. I knew most of those people anyway.

However, I've been a member of the board of a local tennis club. We always were very careful to not make new member feel uncomfortable. New members are always nervous if they are gonna fit in. When the regular members were 'tapping eachother on the back' too much, the new members would always get more nervous about ever being able to fit in.

So, if I came new to this R&S section, I would maybe have felt a little annoyed too.

I'm here for over a year, this is my second account. So, I thought it was well done actually. But I can understand how somebody might have felt a little small.

Anyway, still kudos to you for making an effort :)

I think it's nice. I've been away for a while and didn't know many of the people you highlighted.

I also missed the slander today, and I'm sorry that goes on here. There really are a lot of great people who would probably get along just fine if they were talking about other subjects.

I appreciate your diplomacy! ;o)

I agree.

Its sickening to read these messages (go read my question "would anyone want to reply to this poor Muslim").

It was definitely a feel good and get-to-know-you thing and these few days I'm getting tired of emails and stupid answers. Sorry if it offends you saying 'stupid answers' I know there's no stupid answer but unless you read it, it becomes literally stupid, you wouldn't want to call a stupid answer a smart answer, would you?

Oh, I missed it! I must say, I've never seen anything like that on here, things are really starting to improve around here. Congratulationss to the new management (You, Jim Darwin, Pangel, ect), I'm feeling right at home again...

I really enjoyed your posts! Thank you for introducing us to a wide variety of interesting people. I mean, I've seen some of their answers and questions before, but it was fun to pause and actually read their profiles and learn a little more about them.

I thought it was a fun evening -- one of the best we've ever had here. And it reminded us that we're all people with interests, loves, and goals, rather than some shadowy "enemy" on the other side of the discussion.

I think you did a GREAT job, and as I said before, you made all of us feel very special and appreciated. Way to go, my friend, way to go!

Like I said earlier, they can't handle the sheer niceness of it. It makes them seem kinda vile and wicked, just trying to put everybody down. It probably has something to do with their jealousy of not getting picked. I appreciate your effort to recognize the good people on R&S.

They are probably just a little jealous. I think you rock! Now you have to go through all those question tomorrow and try to get back some points picking best answers...that's a bummer.

I think it was a very good idea. :-) A nice antidote to some of the nastiness that shows up on the board.
