I graduated college with a BA degree at 22, got married to my high school sweetheart when I was 24 (who also had a BA degree), we bought a house the same month we got married, and I had my daughter when I was 26, which was a planned pregnancy and I started taking prenatal vitamins before I started trying. I'm 27 and am going to start trying for another baby in a couple of months. Most of my friends were college educated, and married before having a baby as well. My parents raised me this way, and I will raise my children the same way.

My Mother had me when she was 23, and had my sister when she was 20. I'm now 40, and my sister 42.
From what I understand, this was sort of the norm then and that was in the 60's. I think these days it is more common for people to wait until they have finished their education before getting married (most in their late 20s), and then having kids 1 to 2 years there after.
I'm 39 years old; my husband is 40. We married last April 29th (first marriage for each; no kids). We both have our BA, and he holds his Masters. We both have established careers, and we are in good shape. We are trying to have a child, but no rush ~ we are still young (no worries). We are not young, young, but we are not too old to have kids. Some might think we are too old ???
I would say most of my friends are older, but that's just who we are around.

I graduated high school early and also college by the time I was 22. I had my first child a year after i was married, at 24. I did it young, but did everything in the right order.According to you. ;) I think, like someone else said, teens having children are much more discussed!

My wife and I were out of college, she was 28 and I was 29 when we had our first (and only). Our daughter is now 24 and engaged...at about the same age we were. This is a sign of being raised in a stable family. It follows the pattern of both my parents and my wife's parents...and their parents, as far as I know. I'm not that unusual a person, either. Not a raving conservative or unusually religious (although I am comfortably conservative, and religious to an extent).
Best wishes, Heather.

me too. im graduating in may of this year from HS and going off to college, all my other "school-oriented" friends are going off to colleges in other states and such, while a good deal of my friends are engaged and getting married, and alot of people are popping up pregnant, its is a trend? i believe in being financially stabled and established before having a family, getting married should happen towards to end of a good education. is this old fashion thinking? I could of SWORE it was new age thinking. hhmm..
I want to finish my education and hopefully get a doctorate in psychology, this most likely would be achieved by age 25-28 which then i'll begin my family and such. idk, people are odd these days.

I suppose I'm in the minority, then. I had my first child at the age of thirty. Most of my friends are in the same boat...married in their mid to late twenties & having children in their early-thirties. Perhaps teen pregnancies are more discussed???

I was 38 when I had my first child. I didn't find a husband, but I had completed two college degrees and had purchased a home.
I'm raising my children to finish college and purchase a home before having their children because it makes good economic sense.
