1)No, because for one thing it is a natural process, and I would only be sad if they didn't die. And second, since I don't really get a chance to know them personally, I can't really have sympathy for them one way or another. I know my body, how it feels, and what makes it comfortable or in pain, and that stays the same regardless of whether or not the cells are the same or different.
2) Sort of. If the body is the "over-soul," then the cells are its "souls."

I'm happy for them- they're just a microcosm of our planet, they die when they've lived out their life. They might have their own souls- for a great book kinda with a similar theory, read Madeleine L'Engle's "A Wind in the Door"
