They can be trolled but think about small lures there are allot on the market now.Small Dipsy Divers can help you get some depth with these small lures but you usually won't need them especially in the spring.Always use Monofilament line as it has stretch(Bass Pro Shops has Mr Crappie Camouflaged line) and don't set the hook hard just keep constant pressure on them. You can catch some of the largest fish in the school that way.It does produce GOOD LUCK and KEEP FISHING!!!!!

In the south people spend a lot of time trolling for crappies. They use long light lines with small twister tails and jigs. Alot of the time they'll use spider rigs, which have many lines behind the boat being trolled on long rods. THis is a good technique to find crappie. Since crappie like to school, one you find them by trolling around, stopping to fish the spot is usually the most productive way to catch them.

Good luck and tight lines.

never heard anyone do it and dont know if its possible! remember, crappie are not called "papermouth's" for nothing. i would think that trying to troll and set the hook would rip the mouth too easily to where u wouldnt land anything...lol
