I like to think if there was a god, s/he'd be a really cool old man or woman. They'd have seen so much, they'd just be kind of laid-back. And maybe have a slightly dirty sense of humor.

Oh yeah. . .and He has a great sense of humor, too. I swear the following happened just as I am telling it:
I was trudging through the snow on my way to the grocery store, keeping up a steady stream of kvetching to God all the way. Family members were driving me crazy, there were various health and financial problems, and my stress level was through the roof.
And to top it all off, I'd lost weight so my clothes were loose. My pants suddenly took a dive around my ankles, and there I was, standing in the middle of Kroger's parking lot, trying to grab my britches up before anyone saw what had happened.
I remember looking up at the sky and saying, "If I'd know being a Christian was going to be like this, I would have never signed on. Family's driving me crazy, can't pay my bills, and now I'm standing in the middle of the parking lot with my drawers at half mast. Why didn't You TELL me things were gonna be like this?"
I stopped complaining for a second or two, and somewhere in my soul, I heard the words, "Well, hon, the Crucifixion should have been your first clue."
God's definitely got a sense of humor!

The only place I know of in the Bible that talks about God laughing is in Psalm 2:1 Why are the nations in an uproar And the peoples devising a vain thing? 2 The kings of the earth take their stand And the rulers take counsel together Against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying, 3 "Let us tear their fetters apart And cast away their cords from us!" 4 He who sits in the heavens laughs, The Lord scoffs at them. 5 Then He will speak to them in His anger And terrify them in His fury

There are many times that I look at my life and I KNOW that God has a sense of humour - but I am still careful that I am being repectful and loving-- not blasphemous.

I doubt if our God is laughing at your mockery. (He is our God by the way, you just reject Him). You won't be laughing at your judgement when, because of your rejecting Him, You'll hear the saddest words ever: Depart from me, I never knew you". Our God wants a relationship with you, wants you to spend eternity in the Heaven He created for you. And then both our God and you will be laughing together in love and joy.

I am confident that God has a sense of humor. I think it's the only way he could love me and I know he does.
