Let's take Arnold Schwarzenegger in his prime for example. Did he use steroids (meaning on a consistent basis) or is he all natural?

All professional bodybuilders use (and abuse) steroids.
You mention Arnold but he himself used the drugs available back in the day like dianabol and test. If you research a little bit you will find out that natural bodybuilders can grow to a very considerable size but nothing compared to Coleman,Cutler or Baddel, this bbs are even acompanied by doctors that regulate and administrate the drugs themselves to better understand their uses. The most dangerous drugs though are not the mass building anabolizers but the "cutting" drugs that "dry" u up like "cytomel" or "th300", they can cause a lot of damage to the nerve system and arterial pressure.
Don´t just believe what u read in magazines because they are obviously not allowed to disclose things like widespred drug abuse amongst the body building community,go to specialised internet sites and u will find out a lot more...
If u stay natural u are also better off investing your money on good bodybuilding foods like eggs, protein rice, oak, tuna or prawns than all the "muscle" building supplements out there that dont come close to what food can do, a good example of that is bodybuilders from Arnolds time that were not stuffing themselves with "shakes" and had good size and quality bodies.

Arnold starting using gear in the mid-teen years. steroids help the bodybuilder to get to where he would have gone much, much faster. steroids are not the magic pill that the media makes them out to be. you have to train hard and eat more to take advantage of the effects that they provide. I have witnessed people go on steroid cycles and make zero gains in size simply because they did not eat enough. steroids are just compounds that act on the biology is various ways. the diet will always decide how big or small a person is.

Big is a rather relative term. In his prime Arnold competed at around 235-240 lbs in contest shape. that size is definetly achievable for some but it takes decades of dieting and training to build such mass. now to get the size of Coleman or Cutler naturally is next to impossible. but when talking about the IFBB you have to realize that those men represent a very, very small percentage of the population that have the genetic potential to achieve such mass even with the use of AAS. it is impossible however for a natural bodybuilder with great genetics to compete with another with great genetics and on AAS. it's like a stock Corvette racing another of the same make and model except it is equipped with NOS.
