We are selling our home. Our Realtor told us with a master upstairs we need to deduct $5000.00 off our selling price of our home. Is this correct?

I personally prefer a downstairs master, but I wouldn't deduct $5k because of it. A good realtor will give you a CMA (Comparative Market Analysis) of homes that have recently sold in your area and their stats (sq. ft., selling price, etc.) They'll use that to give you a fair range to list your home at.

Make sure you interview at least three realtors before choosing who will market your home. This is a major transaction and you want someone who knows what they are doing.

I say get a second opinion form another Realtor! I just bought my House six months ago and
WANTED the master bedroom upstairs to be closer to the kids.

I think the Realtor is full of crap! It just depends on what the buyer wants. Some like a first floor master, some (with young kids) like a second floor master.
Do not take 5 grand off the price of the house for that reason.

Good Luck!

No. Get a new Realtor! They don't know what they are talking about. The average home now days have the master on the top floor. People look for a master upstairs to get away from the rest of the house.
