It's your choice. But realize that depending on what you decide, you will need to take your creatine differently.

There are three approaches to using creatine. The first approach uses a "loading phase" during which you saturate your muscles with creatine, followed by several weeks of maintenance dosing. A typical loading dosage will be between 20-30 grams of creatine a day for 5-7 days. After the initial loading phase, you go into a maintenance phase where you ingest 2 grams per day for 2-3 weeks. You then cycle off creatine completely for 3-4 weeks before starting the cycle over again.

A second approach, which is supported by research, demonstrated that the loading phase isn't really necessary and that a daily dose of 3 grams of creatine over 25 days can have similar effects to loading creatine. In this case, you will have to wait a little longer for the results, but it is easier on your system and can help you avoid some of the unpleasant side-effects of large creatine dosages such as stomach upset.

Even with the 3 gram a day program, you will still want to cycle off creatine for 30 days before resuming the creatine consumption again.

The final approach, which I've seen people have good results with is to only consume creatine on the days that you weight train (assuming you train 3-4 times a week.) On those days take loading level dosages of around 10-20 grams -- typically 10 grams pre-workout and 10-grams post workout with a simple carbohydrate. This approach allows you to avoid having to cycle the creatine.

Again, if you have kidney disease or are under 18 years of age, you will want to consult with your physician before starting creatine supplementation. Also make sure you are keeping hydrated during your supplementation cycle, since creatine will draw extra water into your muscles. You also need the hydration to help your kidneys clear any excess creatine not absorbed into muscle tissue.

Yes. Creatine builds up in your system and aids in recovery. It will help you recover faster before your next workout.
