Ok So im black, i just started going to this new school a month ago. And i like this girl in my class but im black and she's white. And that kind of adds to the reason of me being afraid to talk to her. Im a sophomore and she is a freshmen. And Im also kind of shy and im the only black person in this class. I want to talk to her sometimes but there is this mean kid that sits next to her. (i dont have any problems with him personally i just have a feeling he will make things worse if i try to talk to her). Well this kid loves to joke around alot and he loves to make fun of people. So what if i go to talk to her one day and he just looks at me and starts laughing and ruins it. And i dont want to come off too strong either. But all these things really make me nervous, and this class and lunch is the only time i see her. And that mean kid, he sits at her lunch table.
What do you guys think i should do? I cant go on like this.

Well I have Nephews that are mixed white black I am mixed white mexican so I know how you feel but this very simple ok do this ask her out it is that simple don't let anyone or thing stand in your way of caring for someone.

first off what difference does it make that she is white. honestly in this generation its a lot of interracial dating! of course the most common is black & white. my guess is you must live in a city thats still not accepting of your race, if thats the case then i could see why you would be nervous. bottom line is you will never know what or how she feels until you say something! i mean do an evaluation, if she smiles at you, or says "HEY" she may have some type of interest in you. if none of those things has came into play then don't waste your time chasing her, focus on school and ya never know there might be another SPECIAL someone that you never even noticed =)

Try and get the mean kid away from the girl, so you two can talk without him around. Or get her number and talk to her on the phone. Or drop a note on her desk or in her locker and ask her to meet you somewhere without him. The point is, you can't be afraid to talk to her. Who knows, she may like you back and want to talk to you, but sees that you won't come up to her with this other kid around. He could be her best friend or her boyfriend, so don't take whatever he says too personally.

OK, here's what I think. This girl would probably be very siked to go out with a sophomore. She would think it is totally cool that someone older than her asked her out. If she's really your type, she won't care what color you are. I know that sounds really cliche but its true. If she cares that much about what you look like you shouldn't like her anymore. For the bully, if he really bothers her stand up for her and that way she'll like you for it. You will look like the big superhero that saved the girl from the gorilla. Except in this case the gorilla is just a school bully.

I accept as true with the 2nd answer bypass into Abercrombie & Fitch or Hollister any preppy keep there are in many cases ladies (white ladies) in there with rather short shorts and skirts...only bypass up and refer to em... NO extra clever yet get a job there and you're particular to get ladies throughout you!

And it doesn't matter if you black or not...I'm white and I think a lot of black guys are cute. I don't have a skin-color preference and neither do most girls.
As for the mean kid, if he ever comes up to you and starts bothering you 2, ask him, 'do you mind? ' And glare at him until he leaves.

i was the only asian in some of my classes in highschool freaky when u look around and everyone's white lol x.x
when u get nervous think of reward you will get if she says "yes"
