Hi! I know it is disturbing to find that a pup has been smothered by the mom. It is hard for her to keep track of where all the pup are and accidents do happen. Please do not take the pups away from her they need her right there so they can nurse when ever they need to. Just try to keep an eye on them and if possible get mom outside for a break from the pups with a short walk and to go potty. Some special attention for just her will probably help too. If the area you have her in is a bit tight try to make more room fro her to stretch out in. Other than that there is nothing more you can do.

10 pups is an awful large litter. It is possible that they were sick and the mother knew this. Many times a mother will smother a puppy that will not make it. Did she try and separate these pups before you found them? Did she push them away from the others?
I have had this happen in litters of my own. There have been one or two ill puppies and she pushed them out of the whelping box. All the others were fine and healthy. Just keep an eye on her, and monitor the other pups. You may have to take her and the little ones to the vet for a quick check up.
I have always weighed each puppy twice a day (the same time each day) on a simple kitchen scale and kept track of their weight to make sure they were eating right and gaining weight. When they are so little their weights are usually the best indicator of their health.
Good luck to you!

Check on them more than 3 to 4 times a day. She isnt doing it on purpose, the is probably just trying to keep the pups warm. Try increasing the heat in the room, and check on them, at least once or twice an hour.

it's time to take the mama & all her domestic canines to work out a Vet. it extremely is frequently interior of day 2 or day 3 after delivery. Vet will examine each and every puppy & would be waiting to tell you if she has any puppies in her nevertheless or if she has further all of them. it extremely is whilst dew claws are got rid of & tails docked if needed. Your Vet could have shown the being pregnant & positioned her on supplementations & mentioned you to feed mama domestic dog chow. She might are transforming into an extremely sound so which you'll comprehend what number puppies she might furnish. now's the time for a kinfolk wellbeing examine on all of them. call your Vet & set up an appointment as quickly as attainable.

Did you put a "pig rail" in the whelping box? It's a rail that goes around the edge to keep the mom from squishing the pups against the sides. Larger breeds especially need this as they are prone to sitting on the puppies.

You could do what a lot of Bulldog breeders do. They keep the puppies away from the moms except for feeding. So several times throughout the day and night they place the puppies with the mom to nurse under strict supervision and then take them back away after the pups nurse.

Is it possible that she needs a slightly larger place to lie? It's possible that she has too many, particularly if this is her first litter. I would try to provide her with a slightly larger box/bed; just move her existing bedding to the new spot, so that she will know by scent that it is "hers." If in doubt, by all means, contact your veterinarian.

I would find a way to care for them out of the mother's way. You do not want to risk loosing another one...call a vet for care tips
