People tell me I put my kids to bed too early.
My daughter is 5 and in half day kindergarten and on school nights her bed time is 7:30. My son is 2 and I put him to bed the same time.
On weekends I will let them stay up a little later but they are both usually in bed by 8:30.

They both have been good sleepers even when they were babies sleeping about 10-12 hrs a night.

What time does everyone else put their lil ones to bed.

I think you're doing a wonderful job!! Waking up that early, if a kid is sleeping it they probibly need it!! I put my son - mind you he is 15months, but I put him down at 8-8:30 and he wakes at 8ish and gets a 2hr nap in the early afternoon. Good job keeping a schedule for them.

I put my 1 year old to bed at 8. This has been her bedtime from about 4 months.. She sleeps well throughout the night and is up by 8:30-9:00 just depends on if she wants to sleep in or not, but now with the time change I have somewhat moved her bedtime to 8:30 that way when the time changes back it wont be that much of a difference when 8 hits...

usually our 5 and 6 yr old and I will sit down at 7 and read for 1/2 hr and then they go down. Our 10 yr old goes to bed at 8:30. They all get up at 7 am for school. They all go to sleep nice and sleep all night so I see no reason to change it. On weekends though the younger ones stay up till about 8-8:30 and the 10 yr stays up till like 9:30-10. Once summer comes maybe some things will change but we'll see according to schedules. Hope this helps. I don't think your putting them to bed too early....

My kids are 3 and 16 mo. they go to bed around 7:30-8. And they wake up around 7. The baby takes a 2-3 hour nap after lunch. A five year old will need anywhere from 10-12 hours of sleep a night and its 11-15 hours for a two year old. When you put your kids to bed really depends on two things; when they wake up and their own sleep needs. If your kids seem rested in the morning then you're fine.

I never put my kids to bed before dark. :-) That's just me but I remember my mom always telling me that she had to go to bed at 7pm every night, and she could still hear the other kids playing and light coming in the window. I figured if it affected her so much that she remembered years later, I'm not making the same mistake.

As many people have said, what does it matter on the time, as long as they are getting enough sleep? If they actually need that much sleep, blow those people off and let it go. My kids go to bed much later, because we homeschool and don't have to get up early. Since dh gets home from work at 6pm, they would hardly see their dad at all if they went to bed too early. SO the little ones (5, 3, and 1) go to bed about 9pm, and the middle ones (7 and 8) go to bed around 10pm, and the older two (10 and 12) go to bed around 11pm. That's when each set gets tired, and we never have to fight them into bed.

My 7 year old goes to bed at 7:30 on school nights, my doctor has always said that children do better in school when they get 10-12 hours of sleep.

i put my daughter (15 months) to bed between 7 and 8 and she will wake up between 7and 8....my son (3 years) is harder to get to sleep so we have to get him in the bed by 8 to have him asleep by 9 and hes up between 7 and 8. All kids are different....but they all have a time where they start to get a little cranky (usually will be the same time every day) do whatever feels right for your kids you know them better than anyone else can : )

Nothing wrong with that. Both of my kids go to bed at 8 most school nights (some nights it's not possible), and they are 6 and 10, but if I don;t put them to bed that early they are impossible to get up in the morning, and do not pay attention in school. I guess it depends on how much sleep your kids need to acheive the best of their potential, so no I don;t think you put them to bed to early at all, after all you know them best.
