I mean they are always trying to convert someone to their religion, and when you tell them that you practice another religion they tell you that it is fake, and that theirs is the one true real religion.

I am not saying that other religions don't do the same, what I dont understand is how can they say that about their religion when they dont even try and at least research other religions, they even tell you not to seek out other religions because they are of the world. Yes I do know this for a fact. My niece happens to be a JWand this is what she tells me they are teaching her.

Dear Missj127,

I see that you've already recieved good answers from such people as Schneb and Anna.

Watchtower Witnesses APPEAR to know the Bible well and they APPEAR to be fine upstanding citizens according to what they put forth as being True Religion.

However they SHORT-SHEET God's Word using their black book which only looks like the Bible. They can quote certain verses and make it look like they know what they are talking about but when someone who is in a Right Relationship with the heavenly Father says, "Well, what about this ...?" or "What about that ...?" the jws find that they have an appointment to get to.

I suggest that the best thing for you or anybody else to do is to enter into a Right Relationship with the awesome uncreated Creator of the universe and that only happens by accepting Jesus Christ as one's LORD and Savior.

It is interesting that one of the answerers says that jws are Christians (of course) because I can still remember discussing just that topic with some of my jw relatives when I was a teen. I was not being argumentative in any way when I asked "Are you a Christian?" They looked at me with scorn in their voices and daggers in their eyes.

I have met a few. My ex-wife was a sorta wanna be one before she left me and them for some young bar slut. They seem to do a lot of research which they claim to be biblical. They also say they are a work in process. I think this is true with most new age Christianity too but these others usually have a more capitalistic approach than the witnesses.JWs believe in an end to the monetary system. Unfortunately it appears that the New World Order has a similar view or a cashless society whereas the witnesses may believe in a more socialistic type of honor system. They really need to work on their music though. It sounded like they were playing it backwards. I was far from being like them and yet they invited me once to a picnic. Because I was a smoker at the time I had to go for long walks to do it but it was a pretty big farm and I felt more at peace by myself anyway. They are not without their problems especially with rebellious kids and peer pressures. They aren't the only ones who claim Jesus was the Arch Angel Michael. It takes all kinds of people to make up any religious group so you can't really judge them by a few bad experiences. As far as the only true religion that has yet to be seen by all of them. Maybe they all have a piece of the puzzle anyway.

Jesus said; by their fruit you would know them, speaking about his true disciples, because they would have love among themselves and would be no part of the world and they would not take up arms against their brothers. And Jehovah's Witnesses are no part of the world we don't join the military and kill others, why don't the churches of Christendom teach their congregations that they are not to join the military of the country in which they live so that they go to war and kill their spiritual brothers in other countries, where is the love? This is just one example. We don't do the converting, our commission is to teach, to help others understand what God requires of us, and believe me when I say, many have no idea, we are trying with all our heart to save lives, we do not desire to see anyone perish with this system of things, and please don't forget and try to understand, we are not perfect, and we don't claim to be, we are no different, we are sinners as well, but we are doing the best we can to live by God's word and Satan is doing his best to stop us, we make mistakes same as everyone else, and each of us has the same type of qualities as everyone one else, some are better teachers than others, some are relatively new, and may not have an answer to a particular question you may ask, but if you truly want an answer, they can get it for you from someone more experienced and knowledgeable than themselves. We are just trying to do the work Jesus assigned us at Matthew 28:19,20 in fulfilment of Matthew 24:14.

Honestly, *every* religion in existence does this in one or in many ways, shapes and forms. They all do it. They all have a bad case of intolerance that way (that "one true"-ism), they all try to convert people, and they all get aggressive and/or threatening when you refuse them because they are *all* pre-rational nitwits who have been brainwashed into refusing to think for themselves.

It's not even a faith issue anymore....for some folks it's become a disease, a psychosis that really *ought* to be in the Diagnostic Statistical Manual along with all the *other* mental illnesses.

Just get a few American Flag stickers, display them prominently on your doors and front windows, and the Witnesses will leave you alone. They're trained to not go after people who display signs of hardcore patriotism as they don't want any legal or political issues coming up.

And be thankful they aren't Wahabbis, who would as soon blow you up or shoot you as look at you. Really. Ask a Muslim about the "sixth pillar" sometime, their faith *demands* world conquest by any means necessary.

Thanks for your time.

Jesus Christ did not found the Christian congregation to propound negativisms against any specific religion, but to preach the "good news" of the Kingdom. The bible's judgment message is not against just one particular religion, and it would be a mistake to pretend otherwise.

(Matthew 24:14) And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations

(Luke 9:6) They went through the territory from village to village, declaring the good news

(Acts 5:42) Every day in the temple and from house to house they continued without letup teaching and declaring the good news about the Christ, Jesus.

In fact, at Matthew chapter 13, Jesus explained that all of self-described "Christianity" (true and false) would perform a service over the centuries in matters regarding bible translation, continuing respect for the bible, and in laying the groundwork for the ingathering prophesied to occur in "the conclusion of the system of things".

(Matthew 13:47-49) The kingdom of the heavens is like a dragnet let down into the sea and gathering up fish of every kind. 48 When it got full they hauled it up onto the beach and, sitting down, they collected the fine ones into vessels, but the unsuitable they threw away. 49 That is how it will be in the conclusion of the system of things: the angels will go out and separate the wicked from among the righteous

Note that it is not humans but angels who primarily perform the separating work. Of course, only Jesus and Jehovah make the final judgment regarding each individual.

(John 12:48-49) The word that I [Jesus] have spoken is what will judge [a person] in the last day; 49 because I have not spoken out of my own impulse, but the Father himself who sent me has given me a commandment

(John 8:16) if I do judge, my judgment is truthful, because I am not alone, but the Father who sent me is with me

(Matthew 12:36) They will render an account concerning it on Judgment Day

(John 5:22,27-30) [The Father] has committed all the judging to the Son... 27 And he has given him authority to do judging, because Son of man he is. 28 Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out... I judge; and the judgment that I render is righteous, because I seek, not my own will, but the will of him that sent me.

(Acts 17:30-31) God has overlooked the times of such ignorance, yet now he is telling mankind that they should all everywhere repent. 31 Because he has set a day in which he purposes to judge the inhabited earth in righteousness by a man [Jesus] whom he has appointed

You will know a cult by a couple of key factors.

1.) They will say they are the "only way" when Jesus said clearly HE is the only way. Just because they use the name of Jesus, doesn't give them the authority of Jesus.

2.) They will say their Bible is the only accurate translation. Jehovah Witnesses and Catholics share this in common as well as Mormons replacing the Bible due to it being in error.

3.) They will promote another book instead of or in tandem to the Bible. Mormonism is a good example here.

4.) Mediation to God will include something or someone other than Jesus. This could include saints, priests, Mary, the Law, the church itself, an angel or prophet.

Those are some good basic principles for identifying a cult or cult-like behavior.

Most true believers of any religion would believe that theirs is the one true religion - it's called faith. Not all religions try to convert you but they must all truly believe that their religion's truth is the only truth - otherwise why would they practice it?

Followers of Jesus Christ established Roman Catholic and that is the only proper Christianity and the only Holy Bible.

There are more than 25-50 christian religions and numerous bibles, they are all fake. King Henry only to divorce and marry again created another religion which is called Anglican church or Protestant. These are all insults for true Christianity.

so do many other religions, it's just that they don't go about looking for converts on an individual basis. belief in any one religion is based on the belief that that's the right one and not another. they'd like if you'd convert, but most don't try to make you convert in the way the witnesses do.

Interesting question.
Well, whatever the reason, they are certainly moved to action by their beliefs, as opposed to the majority of religions, which are more like a restaurant. Sit down and get served.
