The current understanding ( see "A Course in Miracles" ) is that there IS NO hereafter...we are already there..and never left it!
What we are all doing NOW is living/watching a high-tech ineteractive video that we CHOSE to view to experience separation from God ( duality ). God IS Love, is ONE, and NOT Love AND Hate or Rejection followed by Forgiveness and Acceptance. God sits watching us like the father of the prodigal Son, and when we are tired of experiencing apartness we will seek atonement ( at-one-ment).
When we are ALL tired of the game, this universe will disappear back into the black hole that spawned it.
In the meantime, practice Love and Forgiveness and leave the cinema that much earlier than otherwise.
Oh! And bye the bye, God did NOT make the world. How could He make anything which was not Pure Love? WE made this sureal film we call life, with NOTHING Real (changeless). We live in a world which is constantly being re-created each second by our Mind and constitutes a cosmic juggling act to keep all the balls in the air...............

It is the life that is permenant unlike the temporary life in this world. We are judged for our good and bad deeds. We must try to make a difference. This world is like a project to us. We have to work hard as much to achieve salvation. We should try to stay away from sins. Follow our religon properly and we will gets the rewards in the hereafter.
