Put a litter box where she goes most often, if she still goes on the floor pick up the mess and put it in the litter box so she will know what is the right place for this. Clean the floor with urine-b-gone and spray with a spray that will repel her. These products you can buy at a pet store. Also if you don't mind pepper on the floor, sprinkle it on the floor so when she tries to find her spots she will get and unpleasant sniff of pepper. I told my mom to do the same when her cat now 13 years old started to go on the floor instead of the box. She is now using the box again. Eventually move the box little by little to where you want it and she can find it.

Have you tried putting her poop in the litter box and showing her and then praising her? Is there an animal she has seen outside thorugh the window? Cats also use their poop to mark their territory. If you're not sure, try this experiment: buy a new litter box. Put the new box in the place of the old one. Move the old box by the window in the house where the cat is most likely to catch sight of other animals (other cats, dogs, even racoons). If she poops in the box by the window, then you know it is the strange animal she has seen. If this is the case, let her "forget" the animal by limiting her view from that window (shut the blinds or restrict her from that room).

If she is pooping near the litter box, then she definitely knows what it is for. That's a big plus. But, there is some reason why she does not get inside of it. It may be that she finds the scent or the feel of the litter objectionable. Try switching litter brands - if you are using scented, try unscented. If you are using crystals, try clay. And so on. If your cat is a reader, you may also want to try leaving some magazines that might interest her inside the box.

Well, the litter box sides may be too high for her (older cats can be arthritic and it is painful for them to high-step, and younger ones can't reach). or it could be that she does not like the smell of the litter--alot of the scented litters are too strong for sensitive-nosed cats and cedar chips and other wood chips do not soak up moisture well and the box is just not sanitary enough for them (yes cats are picky, spoiled creatures) or it could be that its just not clean enough by her standards.. Good luck

Try a different litter.
I had a tortoise shell persian that would only use the sink or tub, she could not stand the sand/litter between her toes. Needless to say kitty went bye-bye (sold).
